This weekend brings the next YCS to Houston, Texas, and players are theorizing for many Decks in the current formats. With plenty of meta shifts thanks to Beyond the Brave and the massive Genesys Point list update, the market is going wild. One of these occurrences happens to be the Angelechy theme, as they have taken a lead in the new format with their support from Beyond the Brave, along with plenty of older cards from the past years popping up within both the Advanced and Genesys formats. But let’s not waste any more time and dive into this week’s massive Market Watch.

A Dystopia of Creativity

Destiny HERO is on the market again due to their new support in Beyond the Brave, and they aren’t a joke to mess around with, especially with the FTK they can pull out of nowhere thanks to cards like Destiny HERO - Dystopia. By needing 2 Destiny HERO monsters as Fusion Material, this card, if Special Summoned, can target 1 Level 4 or lower Destiny HERO monster in your GY and inflict damage to your opponent equal to that target’s ATK. If this card’s ATK is different from its original ATK, you can use its other effect to target 1 card on the field, destroy that target, and change Dystopia’s ATK back to 2800. As a great source of burn damage and quick destruction, this card can help modernize the Destiny HERO strategy for useful removal and as a way to send Destiny HERO - Malicious and Destiny HERO - Denier to your GY via Fusion Destiny.

Metamorphosis is gaining tons of traction recently, not only because of past formats, but also because it is at 3 copies per Deck now in 2026, and players are trying everything they can with the card. This card can Tribute 1 monster you control to Special Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck with the same Level and has great uses within the Fairy Tail strategies across both Advanced and Genesys. Being a slightly better Instant Fusion, this card lets you gain access to either Teller of the Fairy Tails (for its ability to negate your opponent’s card or effect) or Weaver of the Fairy Tails (which can target and negate the effects of an opponent’s Effect Monster if you Normal or Special Summon a non-EARTH Fairy Tail monster). This can also lead to plenty of Xyz plays too for Fairy Tail - Wiccat, in which it can detach up to 2 cards from itself to send Fairy Tail cards from your Deck to the GY, up to the number detached.

Without having a reprint over the past year, players have been going after Radiant Typhoon Swen and other cards once again for the engine but also as a Deck that can be used in Genesys with some minor and major point adjustments. This card can Special Summon itself from your hand if you have a Mystical Space Typhoon in your GY or if your opponent has no Spells/Traps on their field. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned, you can either add a Radiant Typhoon Spell/Trap or Mystical Space Typhoon from your Deck to your hand. Mainly, with the Radiant Typhoon engine, you will be searching for Radiant Typhoon Chant, which can search for a copy of Radiant Typhoon Eldam, which can also Special Summon itself from the hand. This lets you access a copy of Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow (which can replace your opponent’s activated monster effect with one that makes each player draw 1 card), or a free Cherubini, Ebon Angel of the Burning Abyss (which can send any Level 3 monster from your Deck to the GY, like Maliss

Dormouse

). This card also has plenty of new use cases within Dark Time Wizard decks, as you can now access M-X-Saber Invoker to Special Summon a copy of Swift Panther Warrior from your Deck to start plenty of combos.

Artmage has been powered up thanks to the new Ars Magna cards from Beyond the Brave, and players bought up Artmage Diactorus thanks to the new Theorealized Medius, which can Special Summon any Diactorus monster from your Extra Deck when a monster is banished face-up. Artmage Diactorus is an interesting card, as if you control 3 or more Monster Types on the field, you can quickly negate the activation of a card or effect that your opponent uses and destroy that opponent’s card. And if this Fusion Summon card is destroyed, you can Special Summon Medius the Pure from your hand, Deck, or banishment, which rarely comes up, as Theorealized Medius doesn’t treat the Summon as a Fusion Summon.

Yummy is back on the… table?... menu?... Deck Build? Marshmao☆Yummy is being bought up and is nearing $30 a copy once again. This is one of the main pieces of the engine, and Deck, as you can Special Summon it from your hand, provided you control no monsters or all monsters you control are LIGHT Beasts. Upon this card’s Normal or Special Summon, you can add a Yummy Spell/Trap from your GY to your hand, or if it was Special Summoned by a Synchro Monster, you can place a Yummy Field Spell or Yummy Continuous Spell/Trap from your Deck or banishment face-up on your field. Being unreprinted since Doom of Dimensions, like some of the Radiant Typhoon cards, we could see a reprint very soon for this Marshmallow creature.

It would make possible sense that we will see some of these cards within Magnificent Maestros, as it’ll be the other half of this year’s “Mega Tins” pairing with Magnificent Monsters earlier in September. Some cards are needing a reprint from 2025, and hopefully some of them happen really soon as the meta is twisting and turning to a grey area currently.

A Grand Order from the Celestial Knights

The Grand Order from the White King of the Angelechy army has introduced new reinforcements to the theme, bringing home new options to open their Pawn to E4. A bit ago, we covered Angelechy Opening to e4 as a card to pick up before the new wave was released, and so it did, and it has changed lots of stances within the community. It has an option to FTK the opponent consistently, without Phantasmal Lord Ultimal Bishbaalkin, and just being a Deck where players can fit well over 15 Hand Traps to stop the opponent at every corner. Angelechy seems to be one of the best Decks in the current format, as it has enough to compete against Elfnote Ars Magna and any form of Light and Darkness Ritual. This card lets you place 1 Angelechy Field Spell from your hand, Deck, or GY to your field face-up, and if you do, you Special Summon 1 Level 2 or 7 Angelechy monster from your Extra Deck, and then place 1 Angelechy monster from your Extra Deck in your Spell & Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell, but you can only Synchro Summon till the end of your next turn.

The new Angelechy Strategy Score helps out the whole theme entirely since it adds any other Angelechy Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand, but it locks you into LIGHT and DARK Synchro Monsters for the rest of the turn, which isn’t really a downside at all. On the following turn, you can banish this card from your GY to return 1 Angelechy Monster Card you own from your Spell/Trap Zone to the Extra Deck and promote it to the Main Monster Zone, which is a great way to help push to win the game if you managed to stop your opponent if you went first.

Some players have decided to try out the new Dark Time Wizard theme and found success running it as a small removal engine with 3 copies of Dark Time Wizard and 1 Red-Eyes Black Dragon Exceed. The main reason for this is that if you call a coin flip correctly, it destroys as many monsters as possible on your opponent’s field, then inflicts damage to your opponent equal to half the combined original ATK of the monsters destroyed, but if you call it wrong, it destroys all monsters you control. This card also grants you access to Red-Eyes Black Dragon Exceed from your Extra Deck, because you can Tribute 1 face-up monster on either field during the turn a monster was destroyed by the effect of Dark Time Wizard. This acts as a Kaiju-like monster in the Extra Deck that can be Summoned at any time. Some are using this engine to help go second, but it could also be useful against targeting effects on your monsters, as it has a possibility to dodge the effect.

With the TCG finally getting the new Odd-Eyes Magician support in Magnificent Monsters, Supreme King Gate Magician went under the radar for a while as the quantities for the card are getting lower and the price keeps going up. The main reason is that the new Astrograph Sorcerer, the Starfrost Magician, pairs extremely well with this counterpart, as Supreme King Gate Magician can destroy itself to place another Supreme King Gate Pendulum Monster from your hand or Deck into your Pendulum Zone, and this triggers Starfrost Magician, which can Special Summon itself from your hand to then Special Summon the copy of Supreme King Gate Magician to the Extra Monster Zone. When Supreme King Gate Magician is Special Summoned, you can add any card that mentions Supreme King Z-ARC from your Deck to your hand, except a Spellcaster Monster, which nets you the addition of Supreme King Dragon Lightwurm, Wings of Light, Soul of the Supreme Celestial King, or Pendulum Evolution. Overall, this card is a great Starter, a great Extender, a great way to trigger either of your Astrographs, and a Level 7, which is great for giving you access to Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon, which grabs you a copy of Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon when it is sent from the field to the GY.

Debunk is becoming a staple Side Deck card in the Genesys Format like it did years ago, since it can negate the activation of a monster effect in the hand or GY and can even banish that monster as well. Being a big tech card against Blitzclique and White Forest, it can shut down a play instantly and could leave the opponent stranded if they don’t have a backup plan for their plays. Even then, this card is becoming pricey once again since the last print of the card was 8 years ago in the Structure Deck: Powercode Link, as a Common. Perhaps soon, we do see a new reprint for this card, as it deserves something new today.

Hopefully, many of these cards do see a reprint this year, which would be great for the affordability of the game for newer players. Along with that, this weekend is YCS Houston, Texas, and many players will be heading to the event, but plenty of others are taking a break from the game for the time being. My prediction for what will win the event, though, is either Elfnote Ars Magna or Angelechy will make their moves known against the meta threat and use their En Passant to take out the opponents. To everyone attending Regional Events this format, I wish you all the best of luck, and may the best Duelist win!
