Note: This design features a capture of the episode preview for episode 128 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. The 3+ episode Duel between Katsuya Jounouchi/Joey Wheeler and Yami Marik during the semi-finals of the Battle City tournament was simply called “The Darkness Returns Part #” in the dub, but in the original broadcast, each of these episodes had a unique title. At the very last turn of the Duel, after receiving a brutal attack by The Winged Dragon of Ra, the episode ends in a cliffhanger where it is unclear whether Joey can possibly continue playing or if he’s even alive. The episode preview reinforces this uncertainty, but then we’re greeted with an ominous title for episode 128: “JOUNOUCHI DIES”.
