They are for lore reasons, but you can cheat out the fusion easily
Why pick the same one as the ygorganization, Fiendsmith? A smart localized team from TCG would have chosen a different translation and named it FiendXSmith or FiendSmith instead lol
Sets are printed considerably in advance. By the time we knew what the fiendsmith cards were from their OCG reveal, they were likely already printed for TCG. It’s just a matter of if YGOrg happened to choose the same for their translation.
It’s not hard for both of them to come up with the same name independent of each other. Demon —> Fiend is a straightforward censorship change.
