Is Rush Duel going to do the impossible and make Guardians into an actual functioning and fun to play deck!? :O
Probably not, I imagine this is the only one they do.
Yes
I really, really, REALLY hope so… TwT 🙏🙏🙏
A solid translation I think
It is, I can read japanese to some extent and I can clearly understand what the card is saying and yes, the translation is spot on
Thankfully they didn’t decide to make this into a legend card, which would had made it pretty bad without tons of new support to get around that flaw. The equipment part of her effect is actually upgraded over the original that required the equipment payment to be purely from herself.
Level 7-8 Effect monsters with 2500 ATK have always been a part of the game. Stat wise this card had no reason to be a Legend. Konami even introduced non-Legend Effect monsters with 2600 ATK (albeit with restrictions on how they can attack) by this point.
Aside from her summoning condition Eatos isn’t that big of a deal. Rush is a GY interaction format where plays are done by sending cards to the GY. Eatos’ summoning condition is likely almost never going to come up except on your first turn anyway. Eatos’s requirement even if modified is awful as there aren’t too many Decks that specialize in Equip Spells – and the ones that do really can’t make room for this since they have much stronger bosses. Shuffling monsters back into the Deck is really good but you have to play this in a specialized Deck. The ATK gain lets it beat over most things but Eatos has no protection.

Dark Magician is a legend card with only 2500 ATK. They will gave any card that status If they feel like the card is special enough. And the whole reason I was bringing up the legend part, was because having 3 copies means you can pull off the free summon part easier compared to where it basically would never happen if limited to a single copy.
Yes, but DM was released a set after Yamiruler and Dragias. Were it not for its equal status with BE it wouldn’t be a Legend.
At this point feels like Legend only excuses for Legend based support rather than being a restriction on famously powerful cards considering what we get these days.
Eatos’s built in summon goes against the GY heavy playstyles of most Decks, where cards (including monsters) are sent from your hand or Deck to the GY to be recovered later. Even then she is a 2500 ATK beatstick and vulnerable to any summon traps or disruption.
Eatos’s requirement was tweaked so she can work better with certain Decks such as Celeb Rose and Shaman Bandit, where they can recover their Equip Spells fairly easily. Even then you almost certainly don’t want to play this beyond being Tribute fodder since they would rather have their own monsters on the field (especially Shaman Bandit since their Fusion Spell only fuses from the field – and monster zones are tight as is).
Effect wise shuffling 1-3 monsters from your opponent’s GY back into the Deck is really good – ideally if paired with bosses that can recover their own Equip Spells. Fortunately Celeb Rose and Shaman Bandit don’t have any archetypal cards that require you to only have monsters of their Type on the field or in the GY. However making room for Eatos within their builds – where they dump and recover monsters in the GY to function – still makes Eatos unintuitive for their playstyles.
I sometimes forget that Guardian Eatos isn’t a Warrior Monster (which has some dedicated cards to create an Equip Spell Deck)
Currently, I doubt it has any uses since there are no Fairy Decks competent in Rush Duels (let alone Wind Fairy or Equip Spell-focused ones)
