Neo-new water snek.
Kairyu-Shin – Leviathan
WATER/Sea-Serpent
Level 5
2000/1700
You can only use the (2) effect of this card’s name once per turn.
(1) While “Umi” is on the field, each player can only control 1 face-up non-WATER monster (if a player controls 2 or more face-up non-WATER monsters, that player sends those monsters to the GY until they control only 1).
(2) During your Main Phase: You can add 1 “Umi” or 1 “Kairyu-Shin” Spell/Trap or 1 “Sea Stealth” Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand.
Note: Historically, Kairyu-Shin has had a strangely localized name. Its Japanese name is written as 海竜神 (Kairyu Shin, Sea-Serpent deity), but force read as “Leviathan”, and yet its name was localized as Kairyu-Shin, with the usual reading and not the forced reading. This new card is written again as 海竜神 (Kairyu Shin), but it’s instead meant to be read as “Kairyu Shin”, while adding a title of “Leviathan” so that it features both names at the same time.
Note 2: The (1) effect is supposed to work similarly to Rivalry of Warlords or Gozen Match. The text should match those cards but since it’s more specific as to what gets forcefully sent to the GY, I left a more literal translation.
