We got icarus attack, targeted negate and boardwipe

      • The Toymaker's Funtime on May 14, 2024 7:17 am

And also a very generic Shark that can special summon itself at any time during your own turn for Xyz plays or ending turn with a Rank 4 monster.

    2. HalfDemonInuyasha on May 13, 2024 11:50 pm

Not surprising that it’s Ryoga based. Upgrades and/or combinations of stuff.

At least we got our retrain of No. 17, lol.

This is from the new booster pack ?

      • N on May 13, 2024 11:56 pm

Yes. This is the cover theme for Rage of the Abyss, the next core booster.

    5. Justin Jones on May 13, 2024 11:58 pm

I still wait for the day my beloved Number 17 Leviathan Dragon gets his own Rank Up form.

    6. Justin Jones on May 14, 2024 12:00 am

Since Stardust Dragon got different forms as cover cards I’m wondering if the next Zexal cover monster will finally be a Rank 13 Utopia monster. If Raidraptors could get one why not Utopia.

      • White wind Pollarion on May 14, 2024 12:17 am

Dear Lord no, they got to many already!

    7. EmeraldTiger on May 14, 2024 12:01 am

At last, we finally have a proper “treated as multiple Xyz Materials” effect. Any effects like that in the anime were formerly turned into effects that SS’d more copies of the same name from the Deck.

        Oh someone notice

    8. DogeDuke on May 14, 2024 12:01 am

I am kinda surprised Konami did legit turn sharks into an archetype though

Finally, new sharks, I hope this makes up for the lack of Toadally Awesome

    11. N on May 14, 2024 12:13 am

Konami realized nobody would play the original Shark Drake so they casually just gave the “treat as 2 materials” effect to the one new monster in here the Deck will be playing from now on.

    12. ZEDEX on May 14, 2024 12:13 am

They finally made shark an archetype

    13. Logic Bomb on May 14, 2024 12:20 am

I’ve said this before, but there sure is an uptick of “If this card is added to your hand, except by drawing it: You can Special Summon it.” effects.

      • N on May 14, 2024 1:32 am

The new Big Jaws, Mermaid, and Abyss Shark can search Drake on summon, and Levirtue can recover Drake from the GY.

      • Logic Bomb on May 15, 2024 12:08 am

@N Not….really relevant to my point.

    14. ScionStorm on May 14, 2024 12:20 am

Woah, “Shark” is now a legit archetype. Didn’t see that coming.

    15. Paradigm on May 14, 2024 12:23 am

Don’t you think it would’ve perhaps been a good idea to say which product these cards are from in the article? smh

      • DogeDuke on May 14, 2024 12:25 am

All of these cards are from Rage of the Abyss pack

      • ScionStorm on May 14, 2024 12:36 am

Yeah, but the article does not bother to mention where the cards are from. There’s no set code listed with the cards. They’re just presented randomly. For anyone who didn’t know the name of the next set and wasn’t already expecting this, they’d have no idea what these cards are supposed to be from.

      • ScionStorm on May 14, 2024 12:37 am

Update: pack art included now. Problem fixed.

      • Paradigm on May 14, 2024 1:46 am

        Amateurs. “Ending misinformation” my arse.

      • Nikoness on May 14, 2024 2:17 am

Not always, but moments like this, they should specify for real. At least “welcome to new cards in the booster pack” rather than a weird phrase at top.

      • Samurex on May 14, 2024 8:57 am

Oh yeah it’s not like THE PACK COVER AND NAME ARE ON TOP OF THE ARTICLE

    16. IyzTheMonochrome on May 14, 2024 12:48 am

    18. Durbe on May 14, 2024 1:07 am

      > If this card is used for the Xyz Summon of a WATER monster that uses 3 or more materials, it can be treated as as 2 materials.

Funny how an effect so prevalent in the anime is finally printed on a card

Where is my skull kraken retrain konami

    19. FudouYusei on May 14, 2024 1:11 am

Number 32 is the Deck’s strongest boss, all while being laughably easy to make. You don’t even need RUM.

Drake Shark enables stuff like Retrofit Lanius see the light of day intact.

    20. Madness Ends on May 14, 2024 1:12 am

I love this support, Shark Drake was always one of my favorite OG numbers. I just wish this new strategy somehow involved the original Shark Drake Veiss, instead of a retrain. I may be wrong, but I don’t see a place for it in the new strategy, no?

      • chum on May 14, 2024 1:24 am

Only real purpose it has is now to be another mat for leviathan to rank up on lol. veiss isn’t worth making viable anyway because of its kinda extreme effect requirement.

    21. ——— on May 14, 2024 1:42 am

Honestly I always imagined a new shark drake to lean more into a dragonic design rather than a hybrid between both shark drake and number 17, because this thing just looks ugly, why couldn’t they have designed it with something more like the monster Typhon, the hydra, yörmungandr, or even combined traits from the hammer head shark with a goulper eel, and wolf eel.

*if a Spell Card was activated this turn
      *Fish “Shark” monster
*it can be treated as as 2 materials

As always you can only laugh at the absurdity and cruelty with how Shark’s cards were handled. In the case of the second it was never about muh rulings but about cowardice. A bunch of zexal monsters and one raidraptor want their effects back. Aero Shark and Mermaid Shark too want an apology. Nice to get confirmation that Levice was a pun all this time and not a corrupted spellings, sorry tewart.

      • ScionStorm on May 14, 2024 6:44 am

Maybe Animation Chronicle and print Sharkify with the effect not only to treat any equipped monster as a “Shark” but also change its type to Fish.

    29. Schubidubidu on May 14, 2024 6:28 am

Is that a Parkway Drive reference?

    30. Zoom on May 14, 2024 6:47 am

Big fan of Shark here, I wish we had so much new cards for Rex/Kenzan/Dinowrestler or Insector Haga but it’s still freakin cool.

      • ScionStorm on May 14, 2024 8:15 am

Weevil got featured early in Duelist Pack and then got more cards in core set after Beetroopers were imported to OCG. The first and only time Rex got new cards was last year in a core set. And it was a grand total of 3 cards.

    31. Jay on May 14, 2024 6:51 am

Interesting that this is definitely based more on Shark’s human self cardpool in Zexal 1 rather than his Barian version that a lot of people were predicting.

      • ScionStorm on May 14, 2024 9:23 pm

It’s the mascot theme for the core set. Guaranteed at least 9 cards.

    37. Pep on May 14, 2024 12:30 pm

1050 DEF on Drake Shark? Is this an obscure reference to something from the anime or did Johnny Konami just decide to drop that extra 50?

      • ... on May 14, 2024 1:10 pm

Not that deep (pun intended), just half the stats of Shark Drake.

      • A on May 14, 2024 3:35 pm

        2100 ÷ 2= 1050

Is Shocktopus not also a “Shark” card? aka Sharktopus ? (but incorrectly named in the TCG?)

      • Benjo on May 14, 2024 9:26 pm

It’s シャクトパス (Shocktopus) and not シャークトパス (Sharktopus), so it is correctly named in English to reflect that it is NOT as “Shark” monster.

    40. ... on May 14, 2024 8:32 pm

I just noticed C32’s statline of being +300/+500 over its base form is inspired by Hope Ray Victory.

    41. Dark Armed Drytron on May 15, 2024 10:31 am

Shark is now an archetype guys! And it only took like 13 years!!

    42. Sharkuriboh on May 16, 2024 5:18 am

Now we only need a “Kuriboh” for Ryouga sinceYuma and Kaito already had ones.
