Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for an off-cycle Creative Deck Profile, this time dropping to celebrate the new Time Thief support card in the 25th Anniversary Tin which releases THIS WEEK! I don’t know about you, but I’m a big fan of the Time Thief archetype, which centers around a team of Psychic Xyz monsters backed by a supporting cast of Level 4 Psychics and Machines that enable Xyz Summons and provide utility. Time Thief Winder is the perfect example, a Level 4 Psychic that tutors any Time Thief card on Summon, plus it can Special Summon itself from the hand by detaching a material from any Xyz Monster you control. On the other hand, Time Thief Regulator is an in-theme Rescue Rabbit, able to be tributed to Special Summon 2 other Time Thief monsters from your deck. The boss of the theme is Time Thief Redoer, a Rank 4 that attaches the top card of your opponent’s deck as material each Standby Phase. Additionally, it can detach up to 3 material, applying effects based on the type of card detached. As an example, if you detach a Trap, you can spin an opponent’s card back to the top of their deck. The theme’s other primary Xyz Monster is Time Thief Perpetua, which can attach a Time Thief card from your deck to any Xyz monster you control. This lets you control Redoer’s materials, as well as supporting the theme’s brand new card: Time Thief Power Reserve. This new Trap Special Summons itself as a Level 4 monster when activated, then allows you to Special Summon 1 of the Machine Time Thief monsters from your Hand/Deck/GY.
Additionally, Reserve can banish itself from the GY while you control an Xyz monster with a Spell and Trap as material, to banish a card on the field without targeting. So all-in-all, this new card not only helps make another Xyz monster, but it also offers new disruption, adding onto Time Thief Flyback and Time Thief Retrograde!
Now all of what I said about the Time Thief archetype is well and true, but to make this theme work, you need a steady stream of Level 4 monsters to build out your board. That brings us to the rest of the supporting engines at play today. The Raidraptor side of the deck is up first, as Raidraptor – Force Strix should be the first Xyz monster you summon. It can tutor any Level 4 DARK Winged Beast, such as Raidraptor – Singing Lanius, which will then Special Summon itself. With two birds, you can then Link Summon Raidraptor – Wise Strix, which gives you yet another Raidraptor monster Special Summoned to the field. Combine that newly summoned bird with any other Level 4 monster, such as a Winder or Time Thief Bezel Ship detaching the 2nd material from Force Strix, and you can make a second Force Strix, this time tutoring Raidraptor – Strangle Lanius. For when you do, Wise Strix sets a Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force from your deck, letting you cheat out a Cyber Dragon Infinity to protect the rest of your combo, which includes The Phantom Knights of Rusty Bardiche, which helpfully sets The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine from the deck, which gives you an automatic Trap card as material for your Redoer!
Ok ok, that was a lot about the straightforward combo in this deck, but what about the rest of the ‘random’ archetypes in the build? Well, the Cyberdark engine can be viewed the same as Sakitama, just this one is DARK and offers more removal potential. You see, if you have a copy of Cyberdark Claw, it can be discarded to tutor Cyberdark Realm. Realm then can tutor Cyberdark Edge and give you an extra Normal Summon to bring out Edge. Edge will equip Claw from the GY, but that’s only important if you need to attack, trigger Claw’s effect to send Elder Entity N’tss to the GY, then destroy an opponent’s card. But if you don’t need that, Edge is just another DARK Level 4, waiting to be used as Xyz material! The last engine centers around the Dinomorphia, as Dinomorphia Therizia is a great Level 4 DARK monster that can set a Dinomorphia Frenzy from the deck when Normal Summoned. You see, Frenzy is a one-card Dinomorphia Rexterm, and Rexterm shuts down an unprepared opponent, HARD. With that, that pretty much rounds out today’s build – a ton of Level 4 DARK monsters that make Xyz Monsters to control the duel, with a suite of supporting Trap Cards that help you get around an opponent looking to just break your board with a Dark Ruler No More! If it doesn’t work out, just rewind and try again, with the Time Thief!
