Strategic Summary:
Today's CDP features the return of the Utopia strategy (with all of the Onomato subthemes) to my channel, this time getting a bump from the Flame Swordsman? While I'll get to them later, let's start with the basics - the Utopia theme aims to summon R4NK and higher Xyz Monsters by starting off with 2 Level 4 monsters, and quickly accelerating from there. The main Normal Summon is of course Gogogo Goblindbergh, as it summons another Gogogo monster from the deck and automatically gives you the 2nd Level 4 you need. However, the other primary material to have in mind is ZS - Ascended Sage, as that gives you a free Rank-Up-Magic Spell if used for the Xyz Summon of any Utopia monster. In terms of MAMO, there are two main additions that help this deck function even better - the first is Gagaga Magician - Gagaga Magic, which summons itself from hand and any other Zubaba/Gagaga/Gogogo/Dododo monster from hand/GY, before immediately Xyz Summoning using both as either monster's Level. Then there's Number 39: Utopia the Envoy of Light, a card that can singlehandedly break and steal your opponent's entire board if equipped with ZW - Asura Strike.
While the Utopia/Onomato strategy has always had a lot of high end power, it has always had a slight consistency problem when getting started, which is why it is typically slated as a subengine in other decks like Ryzeal. To solve this problem, I've turned to a Flame Swordsman engine, including just Dark Flare Swordsman, Fighting Flame Swordsman, and Fighting Flame Sword. You see, Dark Flare can Special Summon itself from hand, then tribute itself to summon Swordsman from deck, which tutors Sword to tutor a second copy of Swordsman... voila, 2 Level 4 monsters. Or, if you open Swordsman, it can do the reverse, also getting you to 2 Level 4 monsters. Even at worst, this engine serves as a Level 4 version of Emergency Teleport if you open Sword or Flare and don't need to Normal Summon the 2nd Swordsman, as either gets you a free Level 4 monster without needing the Normal Summon. And since every piece flows, it doesn't cause unnecessary bricking problems. With that, I hope - all puns intended - you appreciate this new take on the Utopia strategy post-MAMO, and catch you next time with a fast WIND pairing!
