Hey now, what’s that Sound? Flip your Subterrors up and down…

Strategic Summary:
Welcome back to another profile, this time descending into the Depths of what lies below. The Subterror archetype is best known as the TCG WP theme that became ‘decent’ once Subterror Guru was released, a Level 4 Subterror that tutors any Subterror card upon being flipped faceup. Additionally, Guru can set itself and another face-up monster, even as a Quick Effect if you control another Subterror card. The reason why Guru is so powerful is its interaction with Subterror Fiendess, a Level 1 handtrap that can send itself and flip a Subterror facedown to negate an activated effect. Between the two of them and consistency granted by The Hidden City, this archetype became a solid control core with Subterror Final Battle flipping your monsters all around. But what about the rest of the Earthly Behemoths in the archetype? This profile is all about showcasing the rest of this theme’s potential.
Let’s start with their Link monster, Subterror Behemoth Fiendess. This Link 2 is summoned using any 2 FLIP monsters, and it can send a FLIP monster from your Deck to the GY to Special Summon any monster facedown to a zone it points to. Additionally, whenever a monster it points to is flipped faceup, you can tutor any FLIP monster from the deck or GY. This monster serves as an advantage powerhouse, but in this deck, she is key to tutoring out the Behemoth you need for the situation. Need a Subterror Behemoth Ultramafus on your board to flip all monsters facedown? How about a way to steal your opponent’s DEF position monsters with Subterror Behemoth Voltelluric? Perhaps you’re looking for destruction or removal in the forms of Subterror Behemoth Umastryx or Subterror Behemoth Stygokraken. Whatever your fancy, Fiendess has you covered, plus Subterror Nemesis Warrior can Special Summon itself from the GY whenever any Subterror Behemoth is flipped and also carries an effect to tutor another Subterror monster! Setting Behemoths isn’t this strategy’s only gameplan, as their primary win condition lies with Subterror Cave Clash, a Continuous Spell that boosts your Subterrors’ stats by a ton and recycles your Subterror cards! While this theme is definitely not as flashy as many other decks to take the spotlight over the years, spare a bit of Sol and Luna for this TCG Premiere theme – you might enjoy what you discover underground in The Hidden City!
