Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP is yet another to feature new cards, and this time I’m taking on the new Six Samurai support from the upcoming ROTA core set. The Six Samurai archetype consists of Warriors of all Attributes, with their own Synchro monsters, an Xyz, and a Link. They’re best known for their abuse of the Continuous Spell Card, Gateway of the Six, which gains 2 Bushido Counters each time a Six Samurai is Summoned. You see, it also can remove 4 of these Counters from your field, as many times as you like, to tutor a Six Samurai monster or recover one from your GY. While this has mainly led to endless loops with Legendary Six Samurai – Mizuho and Legendary Six Samurai – Shinai in the past, I’m taking the theme in a different direction after the tragic loss of Isolde; one where we just maximize an endboard of disruption. So let’s get into the new cards that make this possible.
Out of the new ROTA wave of support, there are two new Main Deck monsters, so I will start there: Anarchist Monk of the Six Samurai (YGOrg Translation) and Instructor of the Six Samurai (YGOrg Translation). These are both Tuners, each can be Special Summoned from the hand while you control another Six Samurai monster, and they each tutor a card when sent to the GY, a Six Samurai Quick-Play Spell or a Six Strike card, respectively. This synergizes extremely well with historic Six Samurai support cards, Asceticism of the Six Samurai in particular, as each has an ATK value equal to other existing Six Samurai monsters, plus Anarchist even tutors it! As far as the new Spell, Six Strike – Double Assault (YGOrg Translation) offers the theme the choice of a Special Summoned Six Samurai monster or the flipping of a face-up monster face-down, or both if you control 2 Six Samurai. Not too shabby for being tutored by Instructor. The real stars of the new wave of support are two new Klesha Synchros: Legendary Klesha Six Samurai – Shi En (YGOrg Translation) and Legendary Klesha Six Samurai – Enishi (YGOrg Translation). Klesha Shi En is a Level 6, tutors a Six Samurai or Shien monster on Summon, and offers a Quick Effect to negate an activated monster effect. This pairs nicely with Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En which negates an activated Spell/Trap. Klesha Enishi offers the ability to bounce any number of monsters your opponent controls back to the hand, at the small cost of banishing Six Samurai from the GY, but the payoff is that it Special Summons a banished Six Samurai when sent to the GY.
All of these new options are great, building off of the awesome Special Summoning the theme could already do with Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan, or Legendary Secret of the Six Samurai, but they also have a much older secret weapon that bridges the two sides of this deck – Chamberlain of the Six Samurai. This Level 3 Normal EARTH gives the deck yet another combo piece, from leveraging Unexpected Dai to the brand new Primoredial theme to get you more Six Samurai monsters to combo with! I covered the Primoredial extensively in my CDP on them with the Dark Magician, so I’ll point you to that video instead of rehashing the same spiel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DxNFcpBjZ4 . That said, Imperial Dragon the Primoredial Dragon (YGOrg Translation) offers another form of disruption to your Six Samurai endboard, letting you negate all effects of your opponents’ monsters before banishing any EARTHs or Warriors, due to Chamberlain of course! Witness the joy of the Six Samurai and friends as they hack and slash their way to victory with their new support wave!

I’m honestly hoping/wishing for more Primoredial monsters to be revealed in the Rage of the Abyss set, because I would very much like to see a proper Gem Dragon deck that doesn’t just look like a hodge-podge of normal dragon monsters with no real synergy.
And while I’m wishing, I’ll throw in a hope that they’ll release Mask of Shine and Dark soon as the first Illusion/Ritual monster, and that’s its effect won’t make it just a Mask of Mirrors and Smoke
