Strategic Summary:
Welcome back to another profile, this time centered on the upcoming Scareclaw theme. The Scareclaw archetype features 3 Level 3 EARTH Beasts that can Special Summon themselves from the hand to a column adjacent to a Column with a Scareclaw already in it. These monsters, Scareclaw Acroa (YGOrg Translation), Scareclaw Veronea (YGOrg Translation), and Scareclaw Astra (YGOrg Translation), may have 0 ATK, but they each provide Scareclaw monsters in the Extra Monster Zone with powerful abilities, such as extra ATK, piercing, and multiple attacks. The last Main Deck monster in the archetype is Scareclaw Reich Heart (YGOrg Translation), a DARK Warrior with the same inherent summoning option; however, it tutors a Scareclaw Spell or Trap on summon, then if 3 Defense Position monsters are on the field, you also get to draw a card! As far as support cards, two stand ahead of the pack – Scareclaw Sclash (YGOrg Translation) can be used to negate any effect activation while you have a Scareclaw in the Extra Monster Zone, and Scareclaw Nova (YGOrg Translation) is a themed recovery option that can also banish itself from the GY to protect a Scareclaw link from being destroyed. As for the primary boss, that’s Scareclaw Trich Heart (YGOrg Translation), a Link 3 that turns all monsters on the field to Defense position and is unaffected by activated effects of Defense position monsters. Plus, it can Special Summon a Level 3 Scareclaw from your GY to tutor another Scareclaw monster.
In short, this archetype has disruptive elements, beatdown elements, it’s almost like a new form of Crusadia. So how do I support this archetype? The first thing I’m including is Rescue Cat, since it can pull 2 Scareclaw monsters straight from your deck. This will be the primary (and only) Normal Summon of the deck, so I’m also including an Emergency Teleport engine alongside Psychic Tracker and Psychic Wheeleder which also summon themselves from the hand. With Emergency Teleport and Link decks, the Super Quant engine also fits in well, so I’m running a Super Quantum Blue Layer and a Super Quantum Red Layer. Lastly, the primary support engine is centered around the recently revealed Krawler Suma (YGOrg Translation), a Level 6 monster that can Special Summon 2 other Level 2 Krawlers from your hand, deck or GY (while also being able to be easily summoned from the hand). This is perfect, as Trich Heart needs any 3 monsters for Link Material, so Suma plus any other monster achieves that. Outside of these engines, support cards, and Scareclaw monsters, the deck is fairly straightforward, so hope you’re excited to watch your opponent’s Tragedy unfold before your eyes! Scare all into submission with the Scareclaw!
