Terrify your opponent with these snakes’ petrifying gaze…
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
One of the latest archetypes to receive legacy support in a core set, the Reptilianne is an archetype of DARK Reptiles that play around reducing the ATK of your opponent’s monsters to 0. After that’s complete, they have the ability to destroy or gain control of those monsters. Reptilianne Lamia is core facet of this strategy – this level 2 Tuner can reduce an opponent’s monster to 0 and summon itself from the hand, or, if it hasn’t used its first effect and was sent to the GY as Synchro material, it can reduce 2 monsters’ ATK to 0 instead! Where Lamia becomes even more potent is when you combo it with Reptilianne Hydra, which destroys all monsters your opponent controls with 0 ATK, then makes you draw a card for each! This swing in advantage can be difficult for your opponent to overcome. But all of these plays were around before the last wave of support – the new wave just makes everything more consistent.
Reptilianne Coatl (YGOrg Translation) can extend from the hand when you control a DARK Reptile, plus it can summon other Reptiliannes along with it if your opponent controls monster(s) with 0 ATK! Reptilianne Nyaminy (YGOrg Translation) can be discarded to reduce an opponent’s monster ATK to 0 during either player’s turn, or you can choose to summon it back from the GY whenever the opponent controls a monster with 0 ATK! Plus, they finally got good S/T support in the form of Reptilianne Lamification (YGOrg Translation), which can reduce ATK to 0 with a search or be a double search, and Reptilianne Recoil (YGOrg Translation), the theme’s first Field Spell that trades a monster you control with 0 ATK for any other DARK Reptile in your GY. This forms a perfect link with a small Ogdoadic engine, as Nunu, the Ogdoadic Remnant can send any DARK Reptile from Deck to GY, then can summon itself back with 0 ATK. My version of Reptilianne also uses a small Alien engine, used to great effect as seen in the replays. So rustle them leaves and be the snake in the greener grass with the Reptilianne!
