Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another CDP, this time featuring the new Enhanced Metalmorph (YGOrg Translation) support from the upcoming ROTA core set. Metalmorph was an iconic Continuous Trap card back in the day, letting you Special Summon Metal forms from your deck by tributing the right monster equipped with it. In today’s game, it’s been reimagined as Enhanced Metalmorph, a Trap that does it all itself, letting you Tribute a Level 5 or higher Dragon to Special Summon Red-Eyes Black Fullmetal Dragon (YGOrg Translation) or a Level 5 or higher Fiend to Special Summon Metalzoa X (YGOrg Translation). If you go with the Red-Eyes option, you’ll give yourself the ability to negate an opponent’s activated card or effect, while inflicting direct damage equal to the ATK of one of their Attack Position Monsters. If you go with Metalzoa, you’ll be able to destroy a face-up monster twice per turn when they activate a Spell Card or effect. If you draw into either of these – it’s no bother, as each can be revealed and returned to the Deck to set a Metalmorph Trap to your board. The other primary access point is Metal Copycat (YGOrg Translation), a Level 1 Spellcaster that can modulate its Type, gains 4 Levels during the opponent’s turn, and it sets a Metalmorph Trap on Summon. Not too shabby for a support card.
Moving right along to our second ROTA theme, we have the Primoredial. I’ve covered this archetype before with Dark Magician ( https://youtu.be/3DxNFcpBjZ4 ) and Six Samurai ( https://youtu.be/TthmwMXVhLU ), but it works well with Normal Monsters such as Red-Eyes Black Dragon that headlines the third theme of the deck. The one additional cool tech here is that Imperial Dragon the Primoredial Dragon (YGOrg Translation) can be Tributed with Enhanced Metalmorph, giving you a bit of fun cross-synergy. Back to the Red-Eyes though, this theme has waited for ages to get some new support, and the combination of both the Metalmorph and Primoredial are exactly what the doctor ordered. While Black Metal Dragon is still an awesome starter and Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon whittles away the opponent’s LP, these new additions enhance the win condition of the deck. Don’t worry, Red-Eyes Fusion still makes an appearance, as both Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon and Meteor Black Comet Dragon can offer even more damage to help seal the duel. Enhance your Black Dragon deck, with a few new ROTA themes!

🙂
Thank you Quincy, very cool. Implementing 2 themes I’ve wanted to try in the same list makes me want to try this right away.
Red-eyes is so close to actually becoming good, we just need a new starter with red-eyes in the name so black stone of legends is viable as a starter too.
And some gy effect red-eyes as targets for insight
And a target for red-eyes soul
🙂
off on a different note:
In the past, I’ve wanted to see you (Quincy) use the Temperature Union Beasts (Burning Beast and Freezing Beast) in a deck because I happen to like them and haven’t seen anything that could allow them to survive (for long) and use their effects (often, as part of a field control strategy maybe?) but still apply if/when they switch and was curious if you knew of some card combinations that would make them viable in a deck.
with the reveal of “Rubisapphirus the Jewel of Maximum Mohs” that urge has doubled and I have to at least put it out there. Can you make a combo Fire/Water deck, even if it stays as more of a casual deck rather than something that one could call competitive?
Love all your decks! I’m a red-eyes fan and i hope we get a red-eyes dedicated wave soon to see people cooking, especially you on CDP 🙂
