It’s gonna be a WINDy one!

Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another Creative Deck Profile, and I’m closing out DOOD week with the brand new WIND archetype – the Radiant Typhoon. This group of WIND monsters aim to spam the board with a flurry of summons, as long as your opponent has no cards in their backrow or if you have a Mystical Space Typhoon [MST] in your GY. The core Level 3 monsters, Radiant Typhoon Swen and Radiant Typhoon Eldam, enable access to the rest of the deck as the first tutors a Radiant Typhoon S/T on summon while the second tutors a Radiant Typhoon monster (or an MST if you prefer). Commonly this leads into Radiant Typhoon Meghala, the last Level 3 that Special Summons a new Radiant Typhoon monster from the deck once MST or a Radiant Typhoon Quick-Play Spell is activated. This brings out the big boys: Radiant Typhoon Krosea which tutors MST and a Radiant Typhoon card, Radiant Typhoon Fonix, the Great Flame which can spin up 2 cards the opponent controls back to the deck when a Quick-Play Spell is activated, or Radiant Typhoon Varuroon, the Vibrant Vortex, which negate monster effect activations while MST is in the GY.
This new theme has a solid core, but like most new archetypes, it could use some help from another established WIND theme, so I turned to the Windwitch. The Windwitch theme is best known for its access to powerful WIND Synchro monsters, as Windwitch – Ice Bell alone will lead to a combo into Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon. With a little ingenuity, you can expand your horizons to including other disruption options such as Wind Pegasus @Ignister, Clear Wing Fast Dragon, Cyber Slash Harpie Lady, or my favorite, Hi-Speedroid Clear Wing Rider. These Synchros give the Radiant Typhoon more of an endboard to build towards, as Number 75: Bamboozling Gossip Shadow can only do so much. That said, you also have Radiant Typhoon Mandate which allows you to negate the effects of an opponent’s card whenever MST is activated, so you aren’t fully dependent on the Extra Deck. I also run a Forbidden engine to take advantage of the leftover Normal Summon for Condemned Witch, granting access to Forbidden Chalice or Forbidden Droplet as another Quick-Play Spell. Unleash the stormwinds, with the new Radiant Typhoon theme!
