Strategic Summary:
Play to the beat of your own drum with the P.U.N.K. archetype, a new theme debuting in the upcoming Deck Build Pack: Grand Creators. This theme centers around a core band of Level 3 EARTH Psychic Tuner monsters, each that can pay 600 LP to gain an effect to advance your gamestate. Noh P.U.N.K. Seamin (YGOrg Translation) searches monsters, Gagaku P.U.N.K. Wagon (YGOrg Translation) searches Spells, and Joururi P.U.N.K. Madame Spider (YGOrg Translation) searches your Trap cards – all from the P.U.N.K. theme. Where the theme starts to diverge and be cool is with the non-tuners – two Level 8 monsters that summon themselves from the hand by tributing a P.U.N.K. monster you control. Additionally, each has an effect while in the hand to tutor a non-Level 8 P.U.N.K. from the deck, improving your consistency even beyond the now-allowed two copies of Emergency Teleport.
With all of these tuners and the unique level combination of 3+8, the P.U.N.K. theme is headlined by Ukiyoe P.U.N.K. Amazing Dragon (YGOrg Translation) , a Level 11 Synchro that wipes your opponents cards back to hand on summon, or summons a P.U.N.K. monster from your GY. But this alone isn’t enough to win duels – the P.U.N.K. theme also has to turn to other Synchro monsters. Enter the Super Quants. The Super Quant archetype is an Xyz-centered theme, using Super Quantum Pilots to unlock their Super Quantal ships. Each Pilot has an effect on summon and one when sent to the GY and each has a different level. With the P.U.N.K.’s easy access to getting a monster onto the field without the Normal Summon, this meshes well with the Pilots who even benefit from being discarded, such as for Dark Spirit’s Mastery or Noh P.U.N.K. Foxy Tune (YGOrg Translation) . More surprises lie in store with the P.U.N.K. archetype, so be sure to tune into the action and Synchro with the Quantum level!
