The Normal Monster support theme is back!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Today’s Creative Deck Profile returns to the Primite theme as this month’s competitive build. The Primite archetype currently consists of 2 EARTH/Dragon monsters, Primite Imperial Dragon and Primite Another Beryl (YGOrg Translation), that work with other Primite support Spell/Trap cards to control the duel and disrupt the opponent. This shouldn’t be news to anyone, as the Primite theme has been thrown around to work with ever so many other themes, I’ve even combined them with Red-Eyes, Psy-Frame, Six Samurai, and HERO. What’s unique about this strategy is that you pair the control-based Primite cards with a hyper aggressive Blue-Eyes core, giving you a very balanced deck that’s able to serve as a jack-of-all-trades. You see, the new Blue-Eyes strategy got major boosts to its consistency with the new cards in its structure deck, as both Prayers with Eyes of Blue (YGOrg Translation) and Maiden of White (YGOrg Translation) both ensure consistent access serve as an onramp to all Blue-Eyes support cards, plus you can even add Sage with Eyes of Blue to that list since it tutors Maiden. Also, the standard Blue-Eyes combo has many ways to field a Blue-Eyes White Dragon onboard, letting you end the turn with the threat of an Imperial Dragon Tribute Summoning out of nowhere.
In addition to the cards found in standard Primite-BEWD build, I’ve carved out space for a few spicy techs, but the one I want to highlight is Mystical Elf – White Lighting. Not only is this a thematic inclusion since it pictures Blue-Eyes, but it also serves as an effective hand trap with multiple influential effects. Not only does it negate, but it also forces your opponent to attack into a Blue-Eyes, which may not always be the most optimal strategy for them. The other major change from my prior Blue-Eyes builds is a new addition to the Extra Deck: Lightstorm Dragon (YGOrg Translation). This Level 9 Synchro gives you significant control over the backrow, and since it triggers anytime it is Special Summoned, bringing it back from the GY lets you destroy even more S/Ts. Since it also recovers a S/T of its own when destroyed, this can help you maintain control over the duel, while keeping your aggressive posture. Thanks for watching, and I’ll catch you next time with a much more luck-based strategy.
