Strategic Summary:
Welcome to the hidden glade, as it’s finally time for the Melffy to shine! This EARTH/Beast theme brings the best of Level 2 monsters to the forefront, as the theme capitalizes on everything the Beast type has been best known for. Whether it is abusing Obedience Schooled and Rescue Cat or embracing Rank 2 Xyz Summons like Number 64: Ronin Raccoon Sandayu, this Beast deck has it going. As for the Melffy theme itself, this theme plays Melffy Hide-and-Seek literally – summoning themselves from the hand onto the field during your End Phase, then jumping back to the safety of your hand when your opponent summons or targets them for an attack. In addition to returning to the hand, each Melffy also gives you a beneficial effect: Melffy Puppy Special Summons a Level 2 Beast from the deck, Melffy Catty tutors any Beast monster, or Melffy Pony recovers a Level 2 or lower Beast from the GY.
But a bunch of little cute monsters is no win condition, and that’s where the rest of the Beast-type steps in. Whether it is access to Naturia Beast through X-Saber Airbellum or multiple copies of Amazoness Baby Tiger to make that extra Xyz Summon each turn, this deck has it. Speaking of Xyzs, Melffy’s have some of their own as well! Joyous Melffys allows all of your Melffy to attack directly the turn and can Special Summon multiple Beasts from the GY during the opponent’s turn. On the other hand, Melffy of the Forest is the search power for the Melffy archetype, in addition to negating an opponent’s monster and preventing it from attacking whenever a Melffy returns to hand. Combine these with Melffy Playhouse to spin your opponent’s board away, and you end up with quite the potent control deck! Oh, and did I mention this theme’s INSANE synergy with Kalantosa, Mystical Beast of the Forest? Unleash the might of joyous mystical creatures with the Melffy!
