Strategic Summary:
Today’s profile hits a destructive tone as the Meklords come back with even more combo potential. If you missed my last approach to this theme, check out the article here. Forgoing the Ancient Gear engine, I decided to go in a different direction – modern combo potential.
Before I get ahead of myself though, let’s chat about the Meklord archetype. This archetype is hellbent on destruction, with the Level 1 Meklord Emperors summoning themselves from the hand when a monster is destroyed by card effect. On one hand Meklord Emperor Wisel can negate a Spell card activation per turn, and Meklord Emperor Granel gains ATK equal to half of your LP. Additionally, both can equip an opponent’s Synchro monster for extra flavor, flair, and ATK power. On the other hand, these Emperors are served by an Army led by Meklord Army Deployer Obbligato, which destroys itself to summon 2 other Meklord Army monsters from your deck. As a nice cherry on top, this theme is truly led in today’s game by Meklord Astro Dragon Triskelion, a Level 10 boss that equips a monster from the opponent’s Extra Deck to sap its ATK whenever it attacks. If it equips a Synchro monster, it even can attack up to 3 times on monsters! All of these Meklord monsters are supported by Meklord Assembly, a Continuous Spell that tutors any of the options, and Meklord Nucleus Infinity Core, which tutors Assembly itself!
Moving outside of the Meklords, I’m running a healthy suite of Crystron Halqifibrax combo support cards, such as Deskbot 01, Mecha Phantom Beast Coltwing, and Creation Resonator. On top of that, the traditional Meklord combo can even add on Wisel to the Halqifibrax board, making this a deadly mechanized adaptation of the traditional combo trees. Besides all that is two core engines. First we have the Magicians’ Souls engine, offering more search power, draw power, and more, but more importantly we have a Visas Stafrost (YGOrg Translation) engine, featuring the new Level 6 Tuner that Special Summons itself from the hand by destroying a monster you control. Combine that with your Meklord monsters, and you can easily get two monsters out for your Halqifibrax combo, often times without even needing the Normal Summon! Finally, Stafrost is easily accessible through the searching talents of Lifobia, the Wanton and Willful World of Desire (YGOrg Translation). Embrace your machine overlords with this Meklord Combo deck!
