Strategic Summary:

Welcome back for another Creative Deck Profile, and today we’re featuring the Malefic archetype alongside its new support cards from LOCH, as they have given the core of the deck significant new life. The Malefic theme is best known for its reliance on Field Spells, as its core monsters are corrupted DARK versions of powerful monsters that are quite easily Special Summoned to your field – such as Malefic Stardust Dragon. Its core strategy tends to revolve around resolving Malefic Paradox Gear, a Level 1 monster that Tributs itself, summons Malefic Parallel Gear from the Deck, then tutors any Malefic Monster, setting up for a high-powered Synchro Summon. The first new support card makes this much more consistent, as Malefic Paradigm Shift (YGOrg Translation) not only places Malefic World into the Field Zone, but it also Special Summons any Malefic from your Deck or Extra Deck. While it is Trap Card, it even can be activated from your hand at the cost of half your LP. The other new addition is Malefic Force (YGOrg Translation), another Trap that can Equip itself to a monster you control to make it unaffected from Spell effects, plus it can destroy itself to tutor any Malefic card. But its true power? Being able to banish itself and any other Malefic card from the GY to destroy all monsters on the field.

Alone these two new cards revolutionize the Malefic strategy, but of course you can still play some of the iconic combos available to the deck, such as Malefic Paradigm Dragon and Malefic Truth Dragon, and while Malefic Territory can be helpful, it’s no longer as essential to draw to win duels. That said, since Malefic Force does Equip itself, there is a cool natural synergy here with Learning Elf (YGOrg Translation), as Elf can tutor Force on summon, plus draw you a free card whenever it is sent to the GY. This is especially great if you happen to mill it off of the top of your deck with The Zombie Vampire, made by your choice of any 2 Horus monsters, since the whole King’s Sarcophagus supporting lineup is also featured today! Since Force wasn’t quite enough, I also chose to include a copy of Max Metalmorph to upgrade any of the Malefic Dragons into a Red-Eyes Black Fullmetal Dragon, giving you an even more aggressive threat to stomp away your opponents’ hopes and dreams.
