Strategic Summary:

Today’s CDP features the return of two versatile archetypes – mainly because I’ve been watching too much Bake Off lately – mashed together to create something special. In the first corner, you have the Madolche archetype, consisting of EARTH monsters of various Types that are best known for their ability to spam the board, endlessly recover their best tools, and overall just be a pain to deal with. Leading the charge is Madolche Petingcessoeur, who can Summon itself from the hand when you have no monsters in GY, then when Special Summoned, it Special Summons any Madolche from your deck. Ideally you’ll grab Madolche Puddingcess, so that you can begin your Xyz Summoning shenanigans and unlock the mighty Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode, which can Special Summon up to 3 Madolche monsters from your deck under ideal conditions. From there, Madolche Queen Tiaramisu and Madolche Queen Tiarafraise run the show, returning Madolche cards from the GY into the deck, then also cards the opponent controls. But the Madolche don’t just provide monster support – they also add Madolche Promenade, to negate a face-up card, and Madolche Dessert, to bounce an opponent’s face-up Effect Monster, to the mix, giving you more finesse to extract sweet, sweet revenge.

On the other side of the deck, we have the K9 theme, back again for some fun. A small K9 engine is extremely flexible, since K9-17 Izuna sets up a R5NK Xyz Summon by itself during the turn your opponent activated a monster effect in hand/GY, but I’ve actually included the full engine in today’s build to make the most of all of their potential. Of course, K9-66a Jokul has the side benefit of getting your Madolche Puddingcess out of the hand if dead drawn, but the real power is K9-04 Noroi being able to scope out the opponent’s hand while setting up protection. With a K9-17 “Ripper” protecting your Madolche plays, there’s less chance of being interrupted by a zealous opponent. There is one other key thing to keep in mind here – you don’t have to use your K9 monsters just for Xyz summons. In a pinch, turn 2 K9s and a Madolche monster into Madolche Mini Meowcaroons, and you can continue the confectionary joy!
