Brand new builds inspired by the June 2023 F/L List!
Build One: Dragon Link – June 2023 Edition
Strategic Summary:
This Five-Minute Testing video breaks out Dragon Link for the first time on my channel, now empowered by the return of Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos. Joining his Limited Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms brother back in the TCG, Blaster helps give the Dragon Link strategy ways to extend for even more Link Monsters, or even more beatdown power – whatever is needed! Otherwise, the rest of my take on this competitive deck is the strategy you’ve grown to see for years now, just spiced up with other fun techs like Gold Sarcophagus, which can be used to tutor Burning Dragon (YGOrg Translation) or Heavenly Zephy – Miradora via a Dragon Ruler! Load the Rokket into your Borrel guns and enter the duel blazing! Oh, and if you didn’t notice, this video is a one-match-wonder!

Build Two: Tenyi Swordsoul – June 2023 Edition
Strategic Summary:
Today’s Five-Minute Testing video breaks into the competitive variant of Swordsoul that’s been featured in the competitive scene for a good while now; however, it gets a new tool going first with the help of the newly unbanned Denglong, First of the Yang Zing. Overall, the Swordsoul deck is all about making one-card Synchro Summons of Wyrm monsters, whether it is Swordsoul of Mo Ye, Swordsoul of Taia, or a 1.5 card combo of Swordsoul Strategist Longyuan. Led by Swordsoul Sinister Sovereign – Qixing Longyuan and Swordsoul Grandmaster – Chixaio, this deck has tons of disruptive threats, but it also has a solid ability to fight through an established board due to other Wyrm archetype here, the Tenyi. The Tenyi side of the deck uses options like Tenyi Spirit – Vishuda to force your opponent’s negates while summoning even more monsters to the board. Plus, who doesn’t like a deck that can safely Main Deck Evenly Matched? Wyrms unite, inspired by the new F/L list!

Build Three: Superheavy Samurai with Infinitrack – June 2023 Edition
Strategic Summary:
Today’s Five-Minute Testing video takes our deflated Monster Mash Machine friends back out for a spin, after taking heavy losses with the banning of Superheavy Samurai Scarecrow. That said, for all those saying that this would be the final nail in the coffin for the deck, you would be wrong. This archetype still has its most powerful card in Superheavy Samurai Prodigy Wakaushi, which can still be a one-card combo into a well-established board. But outside of standard Superheavy things, my build incoporates the Infinitrack archetype to provide access not only to more Synchro plays and options, but other extenders to ensure that Qliphort Genius can still be a great part of the Superheavy strategy. You see, it can tutor both Spell Canceller and Jinzo to shutdown whichever support cards you need to lockdown, and that can be game-defining in a tough matchup. Either way, these Machines are here to stay, so checkout the Superheavy Samurai in action. Oh, and if you didn’t notice, this video is a one-match-wonder!

Build Four: Purrely Endymion and Nimble – June 2023 Edition
Strategic Summary:
Today’s Five-Minute Testing video marks the end of my week of videos inspired by the new list, and features a competitve build of Purrely with a bit of a Spell Counter twist. For those who haven’t seen this Xyz archetype in action, the Purrely archetype uses Purrely and Purrelyly to Xyz Summon a Rank 2 Epurrely monster, then use their Equip Spells to summon more Purrely monsters while attaching them to your Epurrely Xyz Monsters. Ultimately, the goal is to abuse Epurrely Plump, load it up with tons of materials, then use it as Xyz Material for a Rank 7 boss like Expurrely Noir. While Purrely Delicious Memory was Limited by the new June F/L list, that’s where I’m turning to the Nimble Engine to provide an alternative way to get to your Rank 2 Xyz monsters, such as your all-important Epurrely Plump. Also, once the next core set hits the TCG, the deck also gets a new Trap card in Purrely Sharely!? (YGOrg Translation) and a new Xyz monster in Epurrely Noir (YGOrg Translation) which searches Purrely Traps, giving it even more a boost to tackle the still un-refined meta. And if you’re still wondering about Endmyion, just look at the Field Spell that I’m searching with the Crystal Beast support Trap, Rainbow Bridge of Salvation: Secret Village of the Spellcasters, that’s right!

Outro:
This new F/L list was really unique in bringing down the power level of the competitive game across the board, lending itself well to iteration and experimentation. Hopefully you enjoyed my take on various archetypes affected by the new list, but there are certainly more archetypes out there that get a significant boost or that didn’t get hit as hard as it appears, so be sure to get out there and experiment. If you enjoyed this trial run of grouping a ton of CDPs together in one article, please leave comments below, so I can decide on whether to do this level of effort again in the future!
Note: This is continuing the style of Creative Deck Profile articles, designed to showcase a build through replays and an attached summary.
