Strategic Summary:

Today's CDP features the return of the Light and Darkness Ritual [LaDR] strategy to my channel, and this time I'm turning away from the giant Mitsurugi piles to hone in on Dragons (Shoutout The Scholar from my locals who has been iterating on that with Zalen: https://www.youtube.com/@DCTheScholar )! To get the primary theme out of the way, the goal of the LaDR strategy is to use its absurd consistency to Ritual Summon mostly unaffected boss monsters, that then protect your board and begin to apply pressure to the opponent. How is it so consistent? Well since Black Chaos and Griffoh both get you to a copy of Mind Shuffle, Mind Shuffle gets you to any monster that mentions Light and Darkness Ritual, and Ragged Records of Rites exists to get you to any monster that mentions it... yeah, it's easy. Oh, and need I mention Skull Archfiend of Chaos, which sends Light and Darkness Ritual from Deck to GY and tutors either of your Ritual Monsters? That's the key bridge here, bringing us to the Dragon Ruler portion of the deck.

The Dragon Ruler strategy may have reached the heights of its power way back in the day, but the new support wave that gave it LIGHT and DARK forms was actually quite successful at reintroducing the deck into the modern game. You see, Spectral, Dragon Ruler of Flickers can discard itself alongside any Dragon or LIGHT monster to tutor 2 other Dragon Rulers, which then facilitates a baby Dragon Ruler, such as Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts, summoning a big Dragon Ruler, such as Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms, and getting another to GY. The two big Dragon Rulers together can then Xyz Summon Chasma, Dragon Ruler of Auroras, a R7NK that can send any Dragon Ruler from Deck to GY to apply its effect as if it was discarded. In particular, the key here is Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls, as it can send ANY monster from Deck to GY, such as your Skull Archfiend of Chaos. Opening Spectral isn't the only way to initiate this combo - you can also do so with just about any combination of Dragon Ruler monsters, and it's even easier if you run other Level 7 Dragon options... which are also featured in the Rokket archetype!

The Rokket/Borrel strategy is up last today, and this portion of the build aims to capitalize on all of the free Dragon-based card advantage your deck is sure to build up. Typically this engine starts with Quick Launch or Triple Borrel Launch (YGOrg Translation), since either summons a Rokket from deck, and quickly escalates through Striker Dragon and Breechborrel Dragon, ultimately ending on at least 1 LINK-5 Borrel monster, such as Borrelshroud Dragon. Alone, this isn't that much, I'll admit - but it does get you a free Field Spell along the way in Boot Sector Launch, and when you have Field Spells and a Level 6+ DARK Spellcaster to tutor Magicians' Souls and send Cosmo Queen the Queen of Prayers to the GY, you have access to Secret Village of the Spellcasters, yet another way to lock your opponent out of using Spell cards. At the end of the day, this may be a 60-card pile of strong cards, but the fun interactions continue even further than they initially appear, so I hope you enjoy this build as a new way to try out the LaDR strategy!
