Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for today’s CDP, this time featuring the Gold Pride TCG World Premiere archetype with both sets of support, this time covered alongside the P.U.N.K. theme! For those of you who missed my initial profile on the Gold Pride, be sure to check it out linked here.
The Gold Pride archetype is a consistent group of monsters of various Types, Attributes, and Levels that feature an array of monsters and their upgraded Extra Deck forms. For example, Gold Pride – Roller Baller is a Level 5 EARTH Psychic that carries a Quick Effect to Fusion Summon Gold Pride – Pin Baller. Each of the Extra Deck monsters carry very powerful effects – Pin Baller can equip face-up monsters your opponent controls up to the number of Fusion materials used – but they come with a cost. Each Extra Deck monster returns to the Extra Deck during the End Phase of a turn in which their effect was activated, Special Summoning back the base form. Another example is Gold Pride – Captain Carrie, which tutors a Gold Pride Trap on summon, that upgrades into the Rank 3 Xyz Monster, Gold Pride – Chariot Carrie, which can tutor any ‘Gold Pride’ Spell. The other major aspect to this theme is that each Main Deck monster can Special Summon themselves from the hand while your LP are less than your opponent’s, making generic support cards like Pinpoint Landing a great choice for the build. This aspect is also supported by the themes two tutors, Gold Pride – The Crowd Goes Wild! which tutors a Gold Pride then allows you to Special Summon any from your hand while losing LP equal to its ATK, or Gold Pride – Better Luck Next Time! which tutors a Gold Pride and immediately reduces your LP by its ATK.
With all of this LP cost, you may think that would be enough for one day, but the P.U.N.K. archetype, the second part of today’s strategy, helps make that gameplan consistent and viable. The P.U.N.K. theme primarily consists of Level 3 Psychic Tuners that can be used to Synchro Summon threats such as Ukiyoe-P.U.N.K. Amazing Dragon. They also are known for carrying LP costs to activate effects, and even have the Field Spell – P.U.N.K. JAM Extreme Session to draw a card each time you do so, up to twice per turn! Since the P.U.N.K. engine really can kickstart into action with just one Emergency Teleport, a copy of Noh-P.U.N.K. Foxy Tune, or a copy of Noh-P.U.N.K. Ze Amin, and since they have so many Level 3s to unlock an early Chariot Carrie to bridge back to the Gold Pride archetype, this is a natural fit to tune up the relatively new TCG archetype. Enjoy the Pedal to the Metal!, because It’s Neck and Neck! from the time you Start Your Engines! with the Gold Pride!
