Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for today’s Creative Deck Profile, this time taking the first wave of Gold Pride support cards and trying to make something of them. The Gold Pride archetype is the new TCG World Premiere theme, featuring a variety of Attributes and Types thus far, but ultimately joined by a mechanic of wanting to have less LP than the opponent. Each of the Main Deck Effect monsters can Special Summon themselves from the hand when that’s the case, and each provides a different benefit to your team. Gold Pride – Leon gets to Special Summon a non-Warrior Gold Pride monster from your GY when summoned, Gold Pride – Captain Carrie gets to tutor a Gold Pride Trap card, and the outlier, Gold Pride – Nytro Head, has an effect to summon a Token to the opponent’s board and a Quick Effect to target one of those Tokens and destroy all cards in its adjacent Monster and Spell/Trap Zones. While none of these effects are super groundbreaking on their own, the theme came prepared with two cards to increase its consistency – Gold Pride – The Crowd Goes Wild! lets you reveal a Gold Pride monster to tutor a different one, then it lets you Special Summon a Gold Pride from your hand while losing LP equal to its ATK. Gold Pride – Start Your Engines! is the other tutor-er, except this Trap Card can be activated when your opponent Summons a monster to destroy it while Special Summoning a Gold Pride monster from your deck.
As stated early on, this theme is still waiting for more cards to be able to fill out a complete strategy, so in the meantime, we have to look for a deck to pair them with. So today, I chose to do that with generic Dinosaur monsters, as there’s the element of synergy between Lost World and the Nytro Tokens that Nytro Head summons. For those of you who don’t know the Dino Strategy, it’s all about making the most of Souleating Oviraptor, Miscellaneousaurus, and Animadorned Archosaur. If you happen to destroy a Babycerasaurus or Petiteranodon, that’s just extra goodness for you, as you’ll also get to Special Summon a new Dinosaur monster from the deck! Now the Dino theme has taken full advantage of the True King archetype in the past, and today is no exception – you can totally make use of Dragonic Diagram and the newly unlimited True King Lithosagym, the Disaster, to destroy multiple monsters at the same time, and potentially banish select threats from your opponent’s Extra Deck should you destroy 2 EARTH monsters. Either way, the game can quickly end with the help of an Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, so your opponent better watch out for the unexpected LIGHT Dinosaur! Or else…
