The deepsea Fish return!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Welcome back to the follow-up CDP on PHNI Ghoti, now including the two new Ghoti monsters! If you missed my first profile leveraging the White cards in Ghoti, be sure to check that out here: https://youtu.be/a0M64MA07Gk
Now that we’re back in action, let’s talk about how the Ghoti theme has powered up since the last time around, and boy, did they get two powerful new cards. First up is Psiics, Moonlight of the Ghoti (YGOrg Translation), a new Level 6 monster. Whenever Psiics is banished, it can Special Summon itself by banishing another Fish from your hand/field/GY. Nothing too crazy there. But when it is summoned, Psiics can tutor any Fish monster, then banish any Fish from your hand or face-up field. These effects speed up Ghoti immensely, offering the ability to extend your board while also setting up any banished Ghoti monster you need for the subsequent turn. This even lets you consistently run Gold Sarcophagus in the deck now as a starter, and while my build didn’t go there, it allows you to run an even more consistent version with Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth. The other new card also offers a new dimension to the deck, and that’s the Level 2 non-Tuner, Kiif, Haze of the Ghoti (YGOrg Translation). It carries an effect similar to the Tuners, Special Summoning itself the Standby Phase after being banished, but Kiif can also Special Summon itself from the hand just by having a Fish on the field. Additionally, when a monster is Special Summoned to the opponent’s field, you can banish Kiif and that opponent’s monster, then Special Summon one of your banished Level 6 or lower Fish monsters. I love using this not only to disrupt an opponents combo, but also get out an extra Ghoti Tuner to Synchro Summon during the opponent’s turn. Heck, even combining that tuner with something like Ixeep, Omen of the Ghoti will let you Synchro Summon Arionpos, Serpent of the Ghoti during the opponent’s turn, banish a Psiics, and combo on from there. Take on your opponent with a school of new bani-fish Ghoti!
