Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP plunges into the icy depths of the oceans with the Ghoti taking top billing on today’s strategy. The Ghoti archetype consists of WATER/Fish monsters that tend to come back to the field after being banished, allowing to you even Synchro Summon Fish monsters during the opponent’s turn. Their big bad is Ghoti of the Deep Beyond, a Level 10 Synchro that banishes all cards on the field if Synchro Summoned during the opponent’s turn, but the heart and soul of this deck is undoubtedly Psiics, Moonlight of the Ghoti, since it facilitates so many plays for the deck. The Ghoti theme also received a few generic support cards recently as part of the off-theme TCG-WP support, but the most notable is definitely Aspischool, a Level 4 Fish that also happens to Special Summon itself after being banished!
Now where Ghoti always struggled was getting going – their grind game is impeccable, but the first turn used to be a bit rough… that was until First Penguin (YGOrg Translation) slid in to save the day. This new Level 1 Winged Beast can Special Summon itself from the hand as a Tuner, then it can discard a card and reveal any WATER Synchro to tutor a WATER monster of the same Type as the revealed monster, just 1 Level lower. What can you search? Well, you can reveal White Aura Monoceros to tutor Psiics or Snopios, Shade of the Ghoti, you can reveal Penguin Brave to grab a copy of Penguin Squire, or typically, you can grab Abyss Shark from the deck. This last one is important, as it then leads you into your first Level 6 Synchro Summon of Arionpos, Serpent of the Ghoti, unlocking all of your hopes and dreams from there. First Penguin is even easily accessible: with 3 copies of Royal Penguins Garden, you’ll definitely have access to what you need. Then with these Tuners and the help of the Level 5 Squire, you also can add a Lancea, Ancestral Dragon of the Ice Mountain to your endboard, giving you even more ways to annoy the opponent during their turn. It’s always QUICK SYNCHRO FISH time with the Ghoti!
