Strategic Summary:
Today's CDP features the debut of the Zenet archetype on my channel, and I am super happy with how this hybrid approach to the theme turned out in the end. For those who haven't been introduced, the Zenet theme is Zombie-based, leveraging Normal Monsters - or Non-Effect Fusions summoned out of the Extra Deck as Normal Monsters - to Ritual Summon big bodies, including Zenetnakht Sphinx. Each Zenet Ritual also can be discarded, so in the case of the Level 12 Sphinx, it can trade itself for a different Zenet card from your deck. The other part that makes this theme so unique is its two Level 4 Effect Monsters. Zenet Prophet - Amenhotep and Zenet Prophet - Nefertari each can send themselves to the GY on Summon, revealing up to 2 Normal Monster Cards to set that many Traps or Spells (respectively) onto your field. This gets you access to their 'Ritual' Field Spell in Pere-Zenet Em Heru or their 'Ritual' Trap in Am Zuazenet, both of which uses Normal Monster Cards from hand/deck/field as Ritual Tributes. Now that you've met the Zenet, let's talk about how the rest of this deck rounds out its strengths. First up is the Archfiends, and I'm going to start with Archfiend's Origin (YGOrg Translation). When Summoned, Origin Special Summons a Level 6 Fiend with 2500 ATK from hand/Deck/GY, and in here, that will most likely end up being Skull Archfiend of Chaos. That said, you can also readily turn to Summoned Skull, as that gives Origin a monster negate! Regardless, the best way to get to Origin is the Archfiend Usurpation package, leveraging the Quick-Play Spell to set Archfiend Playtime from Deck or GY, then immediately activate it to Special Summon Origin (or technically any other Level 7 or lower Archfiend) from hand/Deck. If you end up with multiple copies of Usurpation, or happen to draw into Royal Archfiend or the material to Ritual Summon Matador Archfiend, you can also use Usurpation during the opponent's turn to set Archfiend's Ghastly Glitch for an extra form of disruption!
Now the final engine at play today is a Dark Magician engine, backed also by a small Light and Darkness Ritual package. For the first part, Dark Magical Curtain is just too good to pass up when you're already forced to run a Normal Monster such as Dark Magician, plus you can also get away with using multiple copies of The Gaze of Timeaus to reload your Deck with an additional Normal Monster for future Zenet Ritual Summoning needs. Not enough engines? Try also Light and Darkness Ritual for even more recycling, whether it is cards back to the deck with Skull Archfiend of Chaos or Magician of Dark Chaos - Black Chaos to grab a lost Spell. You can even justify running the theme's other Archfiend monster - Black Skull Dragon the Archfiend Dragon of Unity - since it serves as another Archfiend card to use your oodles of search power toward. Unleash the Rituals of the Pyramid, with the help of two classic Normal Monsters!
