CDP: Dragontail Magistus, ft. 25PP & DBJH Support

    “Take it easy, Wheezie!”

    Replays:

    Strategic Summary:

Today’s CDP merges Dragons and Spellcasters together in my first profile featuring the new Dragontail theme and the new Magistus support that’s been revealed lately. The Dragontail archetype consists of Dragons and Spellcasters that trigger when sent to the GY as Fusion Material, setting a Dragontail S/T from your Deck. This gives you access to more Fusion Summons, via either Ketu Dragontail (YGOrg Translation) or Rahu Dragontail (YGOrg Translation), or access to disruption in the form of Dragontail Flame (YGOrg Translation) and Dragontail Horn (YGOrg Translation). The one piece of the deck that’s a bit lacking right now is its bosses – Dragontail Gramel (YGOrg Translation) can destroy a card on the field and Dragontail Altharion (YGOrg Translation) lets you bounce and/or recover monsters back to the hand, but this theme really would love some better boards to build into. Hence, the Magistus side of the deck.

The Magistus archetype consists of Spellcasters that aim to leverage Extra Deck monsters as Equip Cards. For example, Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden can tutor a Magistus card while equipped to a monster. With the new support, the Magistus have access to even more bosses, from their in-theme duo of Zorora, the Magistus Victorious Verethragna (YGOrg Translation) and Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Clamity, to the out-of-theme Invoked Mechaba that can be accessed by Crowley, the Gifted of Magistus (YGOrg Translation). Ultimately, this deck aims to build a solid disruption-based board, slowing down the opponent enough to win the duel through follow-on plays. It’s also quite resilient at doing that, as Spoon, the Seal of Magistus (YGOrg Translation) is a great one-card combo starter, plus Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light (YGOrg Translation) can summon a Magistus from the deck if your opponent dares to use a card or effect. The final boss in the toolbox today is Elemental Grace Doriado, a Level 9 LIGHT Spellcaster that summons itself by having 6 different Attributes in the GYs. Isn’t it nice that both themes have a diverse array of Attributes to make this summoning condition a moot point? Dragons and Magic, isn’t that a match made in hybrid heaven!

      Good deck,

Try Dragontale branded seeing as that hybrid is most likely gonna blow up upon dragontale tcg release.

Fusion summon with branded fusion only to also get access to full dragontale combo alongside Ur branded fusion monster.

The advantage and follow up count would be insane.

Future Decks on this site: I just have this idea of using Mannadium Trisukta/Visas Amritara in a Yummy deck, mainly because you can basically use any level 4 monster with your Yummy synchro/tuner, then revive said Yummy Way to then synchro-chain out Amritara.

currently trying to see if Bujin would be a good pairing, mainly because the Bujingi are all level 4 light monsters, and most meet the criteria for Yummy*Snatchy while not loosing their usefulness because I could later just banish them for their protective/disruptive effects. Not sure how well it’ll do though
