Strategic Summary:
Today’s profile features the return of the Dinomorphia archetype to my channel, a Trap-loving Dinosaur Archetype. First things first – while this was meant to be the fourth member of the Trap Track (YGOrg Translation) Five-Minute Testing series, my test duels just ended up being so cool that I turned it into a full profile!
This theme functions by Fusion Summoning via two Normal Traps – Dinomorphia Frenzy and Dinomorphia Domain. While the ability to bring out a boss monster in the form of Dinomorphia Rexterm is super cool, it unfortunately comes at a high cost – half of your LP is forfeit for each Trap activation or Fusion Monster effect. Rexterm does turn this LP into a benefit, preventing your opponent from activating the effects of monsters with higher or equal ATK to your LP! This theme also gets a major boost from CYAC in the form of Dinomorphia Intact (YGOrg Translation), which can negate the activation of an activated monster effect, even if it isn’t on the field! Intact also makes any battle damage you take for the rest of the turn equal to half of your LP, so you can’t lose to battle damage during the turn!
Now the second half of this profile is where things get interesting. I’ll start with the Despia archetype, which makes a return as the Fusion DARK Fairy Archetype from the early Abyss lore. Aluber the Jester of Despia gets to tutor a Branded Spell/Trap on summon, while Branded Opening can Special Summon Aluber directly from the deck. Combine this with Despia, Theater of the Branded, which gives you a Fusion Summon each turn via the Field Spell! With these connections to the Branded archetype, I’d be remiss to not mention ‘The Virtuous’ subtheme, a group of LIGHT Spellcasters that directly support Fallen of Albaz, that get a new friend in CYAC named Guiding Quem, the Virtuous (YGOrg Translation). Quem is also treated as a Despia monster, but it can mill a Fallen of Albaz or card that mentions it when summoned, plus whenever a card leaves the Extra Deck, it can target a monsters with the same conditions in your GY to Special Summon! Combine this with all the normal tools of Branded Fusion, such as Albion the Branded Dragon, Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon, or the new Albion the Incandescent Dragon (YGOrg Translation) and you are set to dominate. Just don’t forget to Trap Track your monsters to set Ferret Flames, your Dinomorphia Normal Traps, or your Branded Banishment for additional surprises!
