BURN BABY BURN!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another CDP, and this time we’re taking on what is often described as a haphazard mess of Burn cards – Chain Burn! This strategy originates from a time where the deck was able to run a ton of Trap Cards you intended to chain together, benefiting from a high number of chain links, and while Chain Strike and Accumulated Fortune still appear and play a pivotal role in the deck, there’s plenty of other avenues to inflict burn damage now! To start, Ceasefire, Just Desserts, Secret Barrel, and Secret Blast are all your best options for dealing big chunks of damage at once, especially if your opponent overcommits to their board. Back those with both Trap Trick and Trap Holic, and you’ll have plenty of big firework moments to play off of. That said, wouldn’t you love to burn your opponent while getting free advantage? That’s where Subspace Battle (YGOrg Translation) comes in!
Subspace Battle is a new Normal Spell that makes both players reveal 3 monsters from their deck in sequence, playing a pseudo-game of War as the monster with the higher ATK wins and goes to hand, while the one with less is destroyed with the loser taking 500 damage. What makes this so potent here is that you would want to run high-ATK monsters like Nibiru, the Primal Being, Lord of the Heavenly Prison, or Lava Golem, plus you can even run bigger options like Sandaion, the Timelord or Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju… meaning you should never actually lose this minigame of war unless you want to. This also doesn’t clash at all with Pot of Extravagance, as opening both Spells can give you a giant lead. Outside of those big power plays, I’m also featuring Crimson Firewing Pegasus in this build, as not only can it add chip effect damage, but also has 2250 ATK and can attack directly the turn it is summoned! If that isn’t enough, the combination of Mahaama the Fairy Dragon and Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill should be more than enough to sink the rest of your opponent’s precious LP!
