Strategic Summary:
In light of the Albaz structure deck being announced for the OCG last month, I thought it would be perfect to revisit my lore deck combining the various lore archetypes into one coherent strategy. While my original take included the Springans and Tri-Brigade, that’s been revised with the arrival of the Despia, bringing the deck more into focus on the Fusion monsters themselves! That’s right, Albaz is back with a vengeance.
For those of you who didn’t catch chapter one, the current lore storyline follows the travels of Fallen of Albaz. Now joined by Ecclesia, the Virtuous in White (YGOrg Translation), the Branded theme has many more amazing tools in the toolbox. From Branded Bond, which recovers Fallen of Albaz from anywhere, to Jubilation of the Branded (YGOrg Translation), which sends a Branded Fusion to your GY while setting up further plays. The biggest new player on the scene though from the BODE group of support is Albion the Shrouded Dragon, the draconic form of Albaz that can send your Branded S/Ts directly from the deck to the GY. This allows you to set them during the End Phase, giving you even more forms of tutoring at your disposal. But let’s also check on the new core of the deck, the Despia!
The Despia theme is a set of DARK Fairies that rely on Fusion Summoning through their Field Spell, Despia, Theater of the Branded. Combined with Despian Tragedy or Dramaturge of Despia which both trigger when used as Fusion material, your Branded Fusions are just the right materials away from being unlocked to your board. Don’t forget the Despia’s other new trick, Branded in Red (YGOrg Translation), which recovers a Despia or Fallen of Albaz before immediately Fusion Summoning. This can be extremely impactful during the opponent’s turn, especially if you summon something like Masquerade, the Crimsongleam Dragon (YGOrg Translation), which puts your opponent on a clock by making them pay 600 each time they want to activate a card or effect. To round out today’s build, there’s a few other engines at play, such as Dogmatika and Rokket, but I’ll leave those for you to discover in the replays. Reclaim your brand with the Branded Despia!
