Strategic Summary:

It’s about time I covered Blackwing on my channel, given how many support cards they have in their arsenal! This DARK/Winged Beast archetype is all about swarming the field in a Black Whirlwind – whenever you Normal Summon a Blackwing with a Whirlwind, you get to tutor another Blackwing with less attack. While the theme has gotten creative with being able to pluck it from the deck, such as with Blackwing – Simoon the Poison Wind, there is no substitute to just capitalizing on extra normal summons to make the most of your Whirlwind. Enter Simorgh, Bird of Extermination (YGOrg Translation). This new Level 4 summons itself from the hand when you Normal or Special Summon a Winged Beast monster, then it sends a Simorgh monster (including another copy of itself) from the Deck to the GY to tutor a Simorgh Spell/Trap. In this case, we’re always looking to tutor Elborz, the Sacred Lands of Simorgh since that gives you an extra Winged Beast Normal Summon (read this as another Blackwing for Whirlwind)!

Outside of this combo, Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North and Blackwing – Auster the South Wind are your main Normal Summon options, as they also generate advantage by recovering BWs from your GY or that are banished. As for the win condition, Blackwings have always excelled at making Synchro monsters, such as their boss Blackwing Full Armor Master. But that’s not all they can do now, with the help of the Raidraptor archetype. With the Raidraptor, a similarly DARK Winged Beast theme, the deck also unlocks Xyz monsters such as Raidraptor – Force Strix, which can search more of your Blackwings to summon. Or you can even combine Force with their Link monster, Raidraptor – Wise Strix, to tutor a Level 4 DARK Winged Beast from your deck and give you access to Cyber Dragon Infinity through Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force! So flap those wings and glide to victory with the Blackwings supported by Raidraptors and Simorghs!
