Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another Creative Deck Profile, as this time we dive into the world of Blue-Eyes in a post-LOCR world, as everyone’s favorite powerful engine of destruction has received three new powerful cards in addition to the generic support that greatly supports them that will be released in Blazing Dominion. Starting off with the new trio, first up is Deep-Eyes White Dragon, the Blue Abyss (YGOrg Translation), a new Level 10 support card that can be discarded to tutor any Level 1 LIGHT Tuner. Additionally, once a Blue-Eyes Ritual or BEWD is sent to the GY, it can be Special Summoned, giving you an extra Dragon body to work with, such as to Link Summon Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres. This greatly adds to the overall consistency and power of the Blue-Eyes deck, allowing you to shrug off any excess weight of a Primite engine. Next up is Blue-Eyes White Dragon, the White Phantom Beast (YGOrg Translation), a new Level 8 option that if summoned from the hand or deck destroys all monsters the opponent controls – isn’t it great it also happens to Special Summon itself if added from Deck to hand. Finally, there’s The Flute of Guiding Dragon (YGOrg Translation), a Spell Card that will most likely just summon 1 free Level 5 or higher Dragon from the deck.
Given that the Blue-Eyes strategy has always struggled a tad with consistency, all 3 of the new cards help propel the deck further towards its ideal play of a Dragon Master Magia backed by other protection/disruption such as Cosmic Blazar Dragon or Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon and give it more opportunities to play through the opponent’s disruption. The first thing that also helps with that is a new Level 1 LIGHT Tuner from BLZD – Kewl Tune Rotary (YGOrg Translation). This monster may not be used often for its ‘Kewl’ effects in here, but it serves as a searchable extender that gives you another extra Normal Summon in addition to the one granted by Mausoleum of White. That’s also similar to the role of the other engine I’ve used in here – the Bystials. Including by each of the primary Level 6 Bystial monsters, the Bystial engine gives you some disruption of LIGHT or DARK monsters in the GY, in addition to just serving as extra fodder for your plays. Bystial Magnamhut in particular combos well into another new Dragon hand trap in Fidraulis Harmonia (YGOrg Translation), a Level 7 DARK Dragon that gives you even more ways to disrupt the opponent, especially when combined with Golden Cloud Beast – Malong to remove two cards from the opponent’s field. Regain your status as Destined Rivals, with the new and improved Blue-Eyes strategy!
