The Diabell lore expands to a legion of Fusions!

Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for today’s CDP, and this time I wanted to showcase the new Azamina archetype that was recently revealed for the upcoming ROTA core set. As with all of this wave of lore themes, the Azamina seemingly can extend their plays forever; however, they are extremely co-dependent on the Sinful Spoils Spell/Trap cards. The primary way of Fusion Summoning your Azamina Fusions is to utilize Sacred Azamina (YGOrg Translation) or Azamina Ofeiletis (YGOrg Translation), either of which reveals an Azamina in your Extra Deck, then sends 1 Sinful Spoils card from your hand/field to the GY to use as material for every 4 Levels of the Fusion Monster. The Level 8 Fusion is Azamina Moa Regina (YGOrg Translation), a DARK Illusion that can Special Summon any other Illusion from your GY each turn, plus it can chain onto an Azamina or Sinful Spoils card/effect to destroy up to 2 cards on the field. As for your Level 6 options (that require 1 Sinful Spoils material), first up would be Azamina Sol Erysichthon (YGOrg Translation), which can send a card on the Field to the GY when Fusion Summoned as well as recover an Azamina or Sinful Spoils card each Standby Phase. Secondly you have Azamina Mu Rcielago (YGOrg Translation), who tutors any Azamina or Sinful Spoils card on summon. Finally, there’s Azamina Rhea Silvera (YGOrg Translation), who can tribute itself to negate the effect of your opponent’s card or effect. With these four options, you have plenty of tools in the toolbox to cover the situation you need.
What makes this theme so potent is that it gives all of the Sinful Spoils support cards a fun base to work off of. While Diabellstar the Black Witch can effectively tutor any Sinful Spoils S/T you need, this wasn’t truly a deck before now. It often relied upon the power of the other archetype it was paired with, like Snake-Eye Sinful Spoils for example. With the Azamina, the Sinful Spoils become very much their own strategy. Take for example Sinful Spoils of Slumber – Morrian flipping a Special Summoned monster face-down, and it even recovers itself while you control a Level 5 or higher Illusion, such as any Azamina. Or consider the new Sinful Spoils Trap: Sinful Spoils Offenders (YGOrg Translation), who can shuffle an opponent’s monster into the deck when they summon from the Deck or Extra Deck, while you control a Diabellstar monster of course. Of course, Diabellze the Original Sinkeeper can also play a role here, as Sinful Spoils Subdual grabs her right out of the deck to join the fun.
As for rounding out this new theme, I turned to an unlikely hero for the fun of it – the Horn of Heaven theme. Led by Harvest Angel of Doom, this engine uses Doom to tutor Horn of Heaven when Normal Summoned, or if it is a Pendulum Spell, it can destroy itself to tutor Black Horn of Heaven. I prefer to do both, which this deck can leverage with the help of the new Sinful Spoils Continuous Spell: Sinful Spoils Deception (YGOrg Translation). Deception lets you Tribute 1 monster from your hand or field to tutor an Azamina card. So, if you Normal Summon Doom, then Tribute it for Deception, it will place itself into your Pendulum Zone, you get your Azamina card to Fusion Summon, and you get 2 Counter Traps for your trouble. Combine those with your spoils, and you can easily build a backrow to be feared, backed by a solid line of Azamina waiting in the wings! Hope you get excited by this sinful new lore theme, because I sure can’t wait to see how the storyline progresses.
