Assault Mode Activate!!!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP features the return of the /Assault Mode archetype to my channel, and boy has it received a major upgrade with the new support cards. Kicking off the new BPRO wave, we have a Level 8 Synchro that ties the whole deck together – Night Wing Priestess (YGOrg Translation). First, it sets Assault Mode Activate [AMA] from your Deck or GY when Special Summoned, then it can let you discard any card to tutor or Special Summon a monster that mentions AMA from your Deck. Gone are the days when the /Assault Mode strategy lived or dies upon Psi-Reflector, although it is still a great extender option for the deck. The other key new monster is Assault Lich (YGOrg Translation), a Level 4 DARK/Zombie that Special Summons a monster that mentions AMA from your GY on Summon, then it also tutors Assault Counter when used as a Synchro Material. What is there to hate about a free omni-negate just for Synchro Summoning!? To really push this deck up to 11, they’ve also received a new Field Spell in Duel Evolution – Assault Zone (YGOrg Translation), which allows you to pay 2000 LP to tribute a Synchro from the Deck when using AMA – this revolutionizes the deck, letting you access your best Assault Mode monsters even without wasting the materials for their Synchro Summon.
Now that you’ve met the core monsters that get you to /Assault Modes, let’s talk about the ones I’m running today. First up is T.G. Halberd Cannon/Assault Mode, which banishes all Special Summoned monsters your opponent controls whenever your opponent attempts to Summon. Second, you have Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode, which is a recurring omni-negate. Third is Crimson Blader/Assault Mode (YGOrg Translation), a new option that prevents your opponent from using the effects of Level 5 or higher monsters Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, that also happens to tutor any card that mentions AMA. Then lastly there is the newest /Assault Mode, Red Nova Dragon/Assault Mode (YGOrg Translation), which responses to an opponent’s activated card or effect to banish cards they control. Let me be clear – the other Assault Mode monsters also fill their own niches in various ways, but these core four are just the ones that made my final build!
Now that you know the endgame, let’s talk about getting there as that is what the entire rest of the build is designed to do. First up, you have Medius the Pure and the new Elvennotes Lore Theme. In particular, Medius is used to summon Elvennotes Power Patron (YGOrg Translation) on summon, allowing you to increase the level of either by 3 prior to Synchro Summoning a Level 8 monster (typically Night Wing). Also, this new Patron tutors an Elvennotes card, such as Elvennotes Lucina (YGOrg Translation) which can promptly Special Summon itself to your center Main Monster Zone before tutoring a new Elvennotes monster. Or you can go with Elvennotes Dyina (YGOrg Translation) to do so then tutor an Elvennotes Continuous Spell, in this case Elevennotes ~Homecoming Parallelism~ (YGOrg Translation), which gets you another copy of the Power Patron to setup further Synchro Summons. If all that wasn’t enough, you can turn to the Branded engine as well, with Fallen of the White Dragon (YGOrg Translation) existing as another one-card option to make a Level 8 Synchro, in addition to Ecclesia of the Black Dragon (YGOrg Translation), which enables access to further Synchro Summoning. Endless Synchro Summoning is perfect to have in the cards when you want to leverage those Synchros for /Assault Modes, and all of the engines work nicely together to ensure a high-functioning build!
