Archfiend Ritual Post-BLZD ft. Red Dragon Archfiend’s Chain [CDP]

Strategic Summary:

Today’s CDP features the return of the Ritual Archfiend subtheme to my channel, as they’ve recieved a few new support cards in BLZD that you should probably be aware of. Now that you’re back, let’s talk about Doom Regina Archfiend (YGOrg Translation), their new Level 7 Ritual Pendulum. This LIGHT Fiend is everything the deck could ask for – not only does its Pendulum Effect allow you to recover an Archfiend S/T, but it also puts itself into the Extra Deck for its future Ritual Summon. Then, when Ritual Summoned, it destroys as many S/Ts the opponent controls before banishing all of from the GY if in the Extra Monster Zone. Archfiend Emperor remains the go-to option for Monster removal, but this lets him sit in the Extra Deck a little while longer, which leads into the next new card, Archfiend Ursurption (YGOrg Translation). This Quick-Play Spell either lets you set an Archfiend Trap, that can be activated during the turn, or it can be used to Ritual Summon an Archfiend, making it quite the surprise for an opponent that doesn’t expect Emperor to drop out of the Extra Deck during their turn. This gives you another way to Ritual in addition to Stars Align across the Milky Way, which still reamins a great tool for the deck.

Now these new Ritual support cards aren’t the only thing to highlight in the deck – I also want to highlight their well-rounded Trap lineup now that they have a third GREAT option. First you had Archfiend’s Ghastly Glitch, which destroys a card on the field while milling Archfiend Hieress which tutors you another card. Second there is Archfiend’s Fervor, which negates any face-up card the opponent controls as long as you have an Archfiend Ritual in the EMZ. Now there’s Red Dragon Archfiend’s Chain (YGOrg Translation), a new Trap Card that negates at least 1 monster the opponent controls (potentially 2 if you reveal the new Shipping Archfiend in hand!). You can even activate this on your first turn by revealing Red Dragon Archfiend in your Extra Deck, giving you a chance to out pesky threats (like that Naturia Beast in the replays). Altogether, this deck perfectly blends the big bombs of the Ritual Summons with the targeted disruption from the Traps to give you an array of tools to tackle the duel – you just got to deploy the right Archfiend Strategy to win!
