Pendulum Ritual Fiends got a new boss!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for a Casual Deck Profile, and today I’ve thrown everything Fiend into a post-Burst Protocol Archfiend build to showcase not only the new support, but a ton of different engines that could potentially work alongside them. Let’s begin with the new big boss, Doom Emperor Archfiend (YGOrg Translation), a new Level 7 Fiend Ritual Pendulum that is unaffected by monster effects when in the Extra Monster Zone. Additionally, if Ritual Summoned from the Extra Deck, it banishes all monsters on the field in the Main Monster Zones, and if it was, it can also Special Summon any Fiend from the hand, Deck, GY, or Banishment once per turn. In short, get him to the Extra, Ritual Summon, then profit. To make that possible, Throne of the Archfiends (YGOrg Translation) is the new Ritual Spell that can Ritual Summon any Archfiend from your Extra, GY, or banishment, so this also happens to synergize extremely well with Archfiend Matador (YGOrg Translation), the Level 6 Ritual that tutors 2 Archfiend cards on summon. Continuing the consistency, there’s also Highness Archfiend (YGOrg Translation), which tutors 2 Archfiend cards on Normal Summon, Royal Archfiend (YGOrg Translation), which tributes itself to tutor 1 Archfiend card and get an extra Fiend Normal Summon, Archfiend Heiress, which tutors any Archfiend card when sent to GY by card effect, and Archfiend’s Strategy Game (YGOrg Translation), a Field Spell that tutors an Archfiend card by banishing a Fiend or Archfiend card from your hand/GY. While this truly is an insane amount of search power, all of it can be channeled into getting all the pieces for your Ritual Summons.
Alright, now that we’ve established how devastating Droll will be for this deck, let’s talk about the side engines that got a featuring role. Of course first up is the Fiendmsith, which offer the Level 6 Fiendsmith Engraver and all of the tried and true combos you know them for. In particular, this engine works well here due to Aerial Eater, which can initiate Archfiend combos by sending Heiress to the GY! Next up is the Regenesis engine, as Regenesis Archfiend is not only an Archfiend monster, but it also can be summoned from the Deck with Doom Emperor to add an omni-negate to your endboard with Regenesis Sage. Moving along to what are currently TCG WPs but are about to be released in the OCG, we have the Miracle Raven/Readying of Rites engine which gives you alternate methods to tutoring your Ritual Monsters and have enough material on board to Tribute for a Ritual Summon. Then finally we have the Mutiny in the Sky Engine, with Buio the Dawn’s Light front and center as both an extender and a way to tutor Mutiny in the Sky for a future Fiend Fusion Summon. These engines join other solid tech cards for this deck, such as Urgent Ritual Art, Archfiend’s Ghastly Glitch, and Archfiend’s Vigor (YGOrg Translation), all of which add additional disruption during the opponent’s turn. While the ideal Archfiend build will never look as bloated as this build, hopefully this inspires you to try something new with the cards – this is an Archfiend’s Strategy Game after all!

You can probably work the Archfiend / Summoned Skull extra deck retrains into this – Versago the Destroyer is a Level 3 fiend that can sub for Summoned Skull (or you can use the OG instead) and it fits in with Buio and Aerial Eater etc. The Rank 6 is easily playable via Fiendsmiths and the Synchro can be played at the end by summoning Soul Resonator off of Doom Emperor, adding a Level 3 Archfiend with it and using Matador’s ritual spell to summon it then Synchro for 3+3.
Summoned Skull extras are terrible tho
Yeah but you’re locked into Archfiends from Extra Deck anyway so may as well.
I was super hype on the new Archfiends as soon as they were revealed, and this build includes Buio? I gotta try this
