Strategic Summary:
Welcome back to another profile, this time focused on a hybrid strategy crossing between two Aqua themes! The Aquaactress archetype is led by Aquaactress Arowana, a Level 6 monster with the simple effect to tutor an Aquaactress monster. Similarly, Aquactress Tetra exists, a Level 1 that tutors an Aquarium card. While these two monsters are extremely simple, the base of advantage that they provide cannot be overstated. Let’s start by talking about those Aquarium Spells that Tetra tutors. Aquarium Set is up first, boosting all WATER monsters by 300, then all Aquaactress monsters by another 300 ATK/DEF. Aquarium Stage is next, protecting WATER monsters from battle and making Aquaactress monsters unaffected by your opponent’s monster effects. And finally there’s Aquarium Lighting, which doubles the ATK/DEF of your Aquaactress monsters whenever they battle an opponent’s monster. The main draw for each of these spells isn’t just these lackluster Continuous effects – whenever any is sent from the field to the GY, you get to Special Summon 1 Aqua monster from your GY. This can be powerful as it synergizes extremely well with Magicians’ Souls, which can send 2 Aquarium Spells for 2 draws and 2 Special Summons from the GY… not a bad exchange of card advantage at all!
Now that we’ve talked about the Aquariums, let’s talk about the second half of this strategy – the Icejade! The Icejade monsters are led by Icejade Aegirine, which tutors an Icejade Spell/Trap on summon, plus whenever it is targeted by battle or card effect, it summons a WATER monster from your hand or GY. As for what it tutors, that can be Icejade Cradle, to tutor another Icejade monster, or Icejade Cenote Enion Cradle, to recover an Icejade monster from your GY or that is banished. For your other Icejade monsters, Icejade Tremora can send itself from the hand to the GY to Special Summon another WATER monster from the hand, such as a Tetra or Arowana. Finally, Icejade Tinola continues the generic support, sending any card from the hand to the GY to exchange Tinola for a WATER monster in your GY. Between all of these and a slew of WATER Link Monsters, this deck makes the most of the advantage the Aquaactress archetype throws its way, letting no card advantage go to waste in a voyage to victory!
