Both of these sets include cards that saw heavy use in this year’s World Championship “Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2014“, so they’re perfect if you want to Rank-Up your Deck!
This time, we’re introducing a card that was used in most of the top contenders’ Decks!
There were plenty that included 2 copies in their Decks!
Today’s Featured Card – ABYR&CBLZ Edition
Diamond Dire Wolf
(Beast-Type ATK 2000/DEF 1200)
[Included in Cosmo Blazer]
2 Level 4 Monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them. (※ It can target itself since it says “Target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control”.)
1. Points of Use
It’s powerful since it can destroy 1 monster you control (Beast-Type, Beast-Warrior-Type, Winged Beast-Type) along with 1 card on the field!
Besides destroying powerful monsters standing in your way, it’s useful for letting you destroy disruptive Spells and Traps like “Macro Cosmos” and “Necrovalley“!
It’s also a card that can destroy and deal with Set Cards, unlike its fellow Rank 4 monsters “Number 101: Silent Honors ARK” and “Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer“!
Also, it has the useful feature of being able to target itself on your field since it’s a Beast-Type monster, but it also works really well if you use it in a Deck with other Beast-Type, Beast-Warrior-Type and Winged Beast-Type monsters.
It works outstandingly well in tandem with Series that destroy your own monsters such as “Fire Kings”!
2. Some Themes This Card Works With
Heraldic Beasts … [ Included In: ABYR, CBLZ, LVAL, etc. ]
The “Heraldic Beasts” are centered around Beast, Winged Beast and Dragon-Types, that fight alongside “Heraldry” Psychic-Type Xyz monsters. “Heraldic Beast Leo” (Beast-Type), “Heraldic Beast Unicorn” (Beast-Type), “Heraldic Beast Twin-Headed Eagle” (Winged Beast-Type) and the like, are all monsters that have effects that activate in the Graveyard, so you fight by creating combos via destroying and sending them to the Graveyard with “Diamond Dire Wolf“! And most of the cards for those themes are included in “Abyss Rising” and “Cosmo Blazer”!
Fire Kings … [ Included In: SD24, LTGY, etc. ]
The “Fire King” Series works really well with this card as their effects trigger when they’re destroyed! It’s worth noting Fire Kings consist of Beast, Beast-Warrior and Winged Beast-Type monsters. While destroying your own “Fire Kings” with “Diamond Dire Wolf”, you can create a combo that destroys disruptive cards, Special Summoning a “Fire King” from the hand, and activate effects that trigger when they’re destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard! So bring on a combo that repeatedly “Destroys” and “Recreates”!
It’s A Necessary Card For A Rank 4 Xyz Summon Centric Deck!
Also at Worlds, there was a lot of Rank 4 Xyz Monsters used by players there, in particular, the top 4 players in the General Division at “Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2014”. There were also a lot of Duelists there, who had 2 copies that they regularly used in their Infernity Decks.
This is a chance for you to get your hands on a card used by the best players at the Worlds Championship!
