If only Blue Flame Swordsman mentioned “Flame Swordsman” :’0
Indeed, and alas that it does not.
The irony of it all being that it was considered to be a buff at the time of Blue Flame Swordsman’s initial release to resurrect any FIRE Warrior (in addition to being a sort of “trade-off” for not being able to Summon the OG Flame Swordsman from the Extra Deck, treated as a Fusion Summon). But as is the case with many of the Fusion Monsters that got changed to Main Deck Effect Monsters upon release, it was a presumed buff that aged poorly compared to if they actually kept it more faithful to its initial depiction and use.
Flame Swordsman was never a Fusion in the anime or manga. It had a vanilla border in the Japanese anime. Konami randomly decided to make it a fusion monster requiring materials that were never in Joey’s deck before the dub anime came out so the dub decided to paint the borders purple to match the OCG card. Blue Flame Swordsman has the Deck Master effect of Flame Swordsman.
I’m fully aware of all of what you’ve said, ScionStorm.
However, the in-hindsight wish for Blue Flame Swordsman to have been better designed around the fact that Flame Swordsman is an Extra Deck Monster in real life still holds. Because Blue Flame Swordsman didn’t just have the Deck Master Ability that Flame Swordsman had in the Virtual World arc; it also had the ability to replace itself with Flame Swordsman from the hand or Deck. And since the real-life Flame Swordsman is, again, an Extra Deck Monster, the real-life Blue Flame Swordsman would have needed to accommodate for that fact, which potentially could have been done in the way I suggested in my previous reply.
lol why u even want some old azz card, we want new stuff that’s good
Halfway to another level 4 that adds it’s revive spell.
Not sending their best right out the gate. Nostalgic though.
Probably,I too think it looks like Joey
Is that first card an intentional reference to the anime Bakura duel where Joey’s soul was placed inside of Flame Swordsman, I wonder?
Definitely appears to, at least, since this younger Flame Swordsman visually takes after Joey himself. (Even if Joey in that particular Duel had adult Flame Swordsman’s physique.)
Probably ، I too think it looks like Joey
Needs more dragons. And a cute blonde waifu
Cute anime references, but neither one is particularly good unfortunately.
Too soon to cast that type of judgement on how “good” the effects are. We still don’t know all the cards and how they’re meant to operate together.
For reference, they gave Gate Guardian 10 cards in the previous iteration of this product. Meaning that presuming Flame Swordsman gets the same amount, we only know a fifth of the themes’ cards. Like, we haven’t a clue what backrow Fighting Flame Swordsman searches or what other Monsters the card can send to the GY (beyond the OG Flame Swordsman and Fighting Flame Dragon).
I’d say the first is a very solid card. A search on summon and float on send into foolish burial is never ever bad on a card.
Salamandra but a Fusion monster with an extra attack?
Okay.
> You can add 1 Spell/Trap that mentions “Flame Swordsman” from your Deck to your hand
I have little doubt they’ll add some between now and when it comes out, but it’s funny to see a searcher with no targets.
Nekroz of clausolas also suffers from this with the nekroz trap card 🙂
But there are more cards to be revealed especially the flame swordsman monster in the box cover
Obviously, this means more support for Flame Swordsman, because…I’m pretty sure there are no targets right now.
I wish flametongue is also in this set
