Oh hey, Yamiluna! This should mean we will get Semeluna at some point, too. Unfortunately based on set order, Gakuto shouldn’t have any other Fusions in here which means no Yamiterasu the Rising Luna in this pack (nor Semeluna as Yamiluna would have been #45 in that case).
As for the monster herself, she is yet another viable target for Dark Ruler Battlegear, Mezame, Semeterasu, Trade-In, Yamata no Tsurugi, and Ruler’s Slash, so even if you do not have Yameruler in hand she can still be used to generate hand advantage and set up your GY to satisfy the requirements of the aforementioned cards.
This also confirms that the Lunars directly support their respective male counterpart – Kimeluna sets up Kimeruler’s requirement; while Yamiluna is unaffected by Yamiruler’s Tribute lock, easily Special Summons herself from the hand after using the lock, and can switch Yameruler back to Attack Position to give it a temporary ATK boost + piercing. Of course Yamiluna only works with the original Yamiruler and unfortunately cannot summon herself in the presence of nor support Yamiruler’s signature move variant.
Gakuto fans are eating well with this pack. So glad that his deck is finally getting the attention it deserves.
