Ever since the two Spell Cards Shadow’s Light and Duality were revealed, I have been trying to figure out a good way to showcase them, but whether it was Twilightsworn, Herald, Hieratic, or a few other themes that just fell flat, this strategy offers quite a good opportunity to showcase their power. Shadow’s Light is a Normal Spell that lets you target a DARK monster you control, then Special Summon a LIGHT monster with the same Type and Level from your Deck or Extra Deck. In this build, you will most likely utilize Aleister the Invoker to summon Guiding Quem, the Virtuous or Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous, but since there are so many Branded Fusion Dragons that are Level 8, you can also target an Albion the Branded Dragon to bring out Albion the Sanctifire Dragon. This Spell Card can also be banished from the GY to gain an additional LIGHT/DARK Normal Summon during the turn. This will be important when I cover some combos later. Moving to the second Spell, Duality, this Quick-Play Spell can Tribute a LIGHT or DARK to Special Summon one with the same Type and Level, but the other attribute, from the hand or Extra Deck. While it would be nice if this also pulled from the deck, this has select uses in here as well, in addition to the same propensity for switching out Aleister for his Virtuous buddies.

While the rest of this build offers the fairly standard Branded plays and Fusion bosses you’ve grown to expect from the theme like Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon and Rindbrumm the Striking Dragon, the Invoked side of the deck can get a major boost from the inclusion of these Chaos Spell Cards. How you ask? Well, let’s just imagine you have an Aleister in hand and Shadow’s Light. Aleister can be Normal Summoned, tutoring Invocation. Next, use Shadow’s Light to bring out Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous. Cartesia can then Fusion Summon, using Aleister and itself, bringing out a Granguignol the Dusk Dragon. Then, you still have both in GY to use Invocation, so you can Fusion Summon Invoked Mechaba! Next, you have the GY effect of Invocation, so you’ll recover Aleister. Then, you can use Shadow’s Light GY effect to Normal Summon Aleister again, tutoring a new copy of Invocation. For two cards, you get 2 Fusion Monsters, an Aleister on the field, and an Invocation in hand. Not too shabby at all for a Fusion Deck. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the rest of the build and all of the fun Fusion Monsters that come with it. From Invoked Elysium to Despian Proskenion, you have tons of options, bosses, and a whole lotta fun to have. Invoke a Magical Meltdown alongside the Branded!

Provided Decklist:

Monsters: 14
| Albaz the Ashen
|| Fallen of Albaz
| Springans Kitt
|| Guiding Quem, the Virtuous
| Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous
|| Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous
||| Aleister the Invoker
|| Tri-Brigade Mercourier

Spells: 23
||| Fusion Deployment
||| Branded Fusion
||| Shadow’s Light
| Terraforming
|| Invocation
||| Forbidden Droplet
|| Branded in High Spirits
| Duality
| Light of the Branded
| Branded Lost
||| Magical Meltdown

Traps: 3
| Branded Banishment
| Brightest, Blazing, Branded King
| Branded Retribution

Extra Deck:
| Despian Proskenion
| Invoked Elysium
|| Invoked Mechaba
| Albion the Sanctifire Dragon
| Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon
| Lubellion the Searing Dragon
| Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon
| Granguignol the Dusk Dragon
| Rindbrumm the Striking Dragon
|| Albion the Branded Dragon
| Invoked Augoeides
| Invoked Caliga
| Despian Luluwalilith

Note: This is continuing the style of Creative Deck Profile articles, designed to showcase a build through replays and an attached summary. If you wish to see a CDP for an archetype, theme, or strategy you love, feel free to private message me on the YGOrg Discord server, the comments section of any of my YouTube videos, or just post a comment in response to this article on our Facebook page or through the site with your ideas for me to keep under consideration! On most YGO-related communities my username is Quincymccoy, so feel free to reach out.
