While I&#8217;ve used some of their new cards such as <strong>Dark World Accession<\/strong> <em>(YGOrg Translation)<\/em> or <strong>Reign-Beaux, Supreme Overlord of Dark World<\/strong><em> (YGOrg Translation)<\/em> in a previous profile (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=atlztBByfJ4\">see here<\/a><\/strong>), this time I decided to go a bit more heavy handed on the archetype with all the new cards. Overall, building DW is an absolute blast, as you must expertly balance the number of cards that discard with the number of cards that want to be discarded, as you need to have both to trigger their effects. I&#8217;m going to begin with the new discard enablers for the theme. <strong>Dark World Library<\/strong> <em>(YGOrg Translation)<\/em> is a Continuous Spell that lets you discard a DW monster to boost the ATK of all DW monsters you control, plus when a DW monster is discarded by a card effect, you get to discard another card to draw 2 cards. Combine that with the new <strong>Genta, Gateman of Dark World<\/strong> <em>(YGOrg Translation)<\/em>, and you have two new ways to discard. Genta can discard itself, unlike most other DW monsters, to tutor a copy of their Field Spell, <strong>The Gates of Dark World<\/strong>. Additionally, whenever Genta is banished, it can Special Summon itself if you control a DW card. If you don&#8217;t notice the obvious combo, you can discard Genta to tutor Gates, banish Genta for Gates to discard something else, then Special Summon Genta for your troubles.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these new cards, DW has always struggled a bit with one part of their gameplay &#8211; most of their monsters have an additional effect when discarded by the opponent, and it can be tough to enable that. Well <strong>Dark World Brainwashing<\/strong> lets you convert an opponent&#8217;s monster effects into a discard or you can use the new <strong>Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World<\/strong> <em> (YGOrg Translation)<\/em>, OR you can lean upon <strong>Ceruli, Guru of Dark World<\/strong>. When Ceruli is discarded, it summons itself to the opponent&#8217;s field, and then since it was summoned by a DW effect, it discards a card from your hand. You can also trigger Ceruli using either <strong>Lucent, Netherlord of Dark World<\/strong>, the new <strong>Perl, Hermit of Dark World<\/strong> <em> (YGOrg Translation)<\/em>, or the second effect of <strong>Reign-Beaux, Supreme Overlord of Dark World<\/strong>. With all of these ways to access Ceruli, on top of <strong>Snoww, Unlight of Dark World&#8217;s<\/strong> search, you have plenty of ways to justify using Ceruli once again.
