Taka Corp Studio planned to unveil its Exodia Necross bust shortly after opening pre-orders for its\u00a0Exodia the Forbidden One bust\u00a0back in February. Unfortunately for fans waiting to buy Exodia Necross, what was supposed to happen \u201ca little later\u201d has since stretched into \u201cseveral months later.\u201d But the blame doesn\u2019t lie entirely with the global coronavirus pandemic; many things have happened behind the scenes at the French collectibles company.<\/p>\n
In the latest issue of\u00a0Resins of Otakus magazine, Gr\u00e9gory do Cabo, one of Taka Corp\u2019s founders, explained that creating the Necross version of the bust has been \u201cquite difficult\u201d because the painter of the statue didn\u2019t have time to work on it. And because of the long delay, the company is adjusting the edition size of both statues to meet their production deadlines; Exodia the Forbidden One will now be limited to 150 busts, while Exodia Necross will be limited to 50 busts. This is a decrease from the 400 Exodia busts and 100 Exodia Necross busts that the company originally announced in February.<\/p>\n
Exodia is Taka Corp\u2019s \u201cleast successful statue,\u201d said Cabo bluntly. He explained that the company should have been more aware of Exodia\u2019s standing as a \u201cminor character\u201d and that sales of its bust \u201cwould not reflect that of a famous antagonist\u201d \u2014 perhaps a reference to Taka Corp\u2019s sold-out bust of Hunter x Hunter\u2019s Hisoka. Still, this won\u2019t be \u201cdetrimental\u201d to Taka Corp\u2019s investment in the Yu-Gi-Oh! license so long as the company can turn even a small profit, Cabo added. To that end, reducing the edition sizes will also serve to \u201cminimize losses between production and sales\u201d and to speed up production.<\/p>\n
Exodia the Forbidden One is available for\u00a0pre-order\u00a0for \u20ac899 (about $1,100) and is estimated to be delivered in the second quarter of 2021. Exodia Necross is expected to be available for pre-order by the end of this year, according to Taka Corp\u2019s\u00a0most recent status update.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
