While I was much younger and my builds were absolutely terrible, creating a new profile with modern cards has been an absolute blast, so I hope you enjoy this bit of a nostalgia trip as we modernize a strategy I hold dear.

The Crystal Beast archetype is unique in that its monsters, when destroyed, get to be placed in your Spell/Trap card zone as Continuous Spells. This enables some amazing combos, especially when you factor in Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle, which re-summons all of your ‘crystalized’ beasts back into the Monster Zone when Special Summoned. The goal of the archetype was to collect 7 different Crystal Beasts across your field and GY to unlock the ability to Special Summon Rainbow Dragon from the hand. But the OG Rainbow is far from the main boss of today’s strategy, no instead we are using Rainbow Overdragon, a Fusion monster that is summoned via the effect of Ultimate Crystal Magic. Ensuring the consistency of plays available to this strategy is a litany of ‘Crystal’ Spell/Trap cards, with varying effects, and all of them are searched through Rainbow Bridge. The two key support cards are Crystal Bond, which searches any Crystal Beast monster while crystallizing another from your deck, and Crystal Conclave, a Continuous trap giving you an additional summon when a Beast is destroyed and disruption by bouncing a CB card and an opponent’s card to the hand!

Lastly, I want to note that this build features the 8th Crystal Beast, Rainbow Dragon, the Zenith Crystal Beast (YGOrg Translation) currently only released to the OCG. Combined with Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus, this monster gives you hyper-consistent access to the Extra Deck, such as Rainbow Neos through Predaplant Verte Anaconda. Check out these plays and more with the build, but Crystal Beasts still have plenty of potential even without Zenith, so I urge you to explore the theme further with a TCG-build if it interests you. With that, prepare to bedazzle your opponent with the power of Gems!

Provided Decklist:

Monsters: 15
| Elemental HERO Neos
|| Rainbow Dragon
||| Rainbow Dragon, the Zenith Crystal Beast
||| Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus
| Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth
| Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger
| Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle
| Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat
|| Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle

Spells: 14
||| Crystal Promise
||| Crystal Bond
||| Neos Fusion
| Crystal Blessing
||| Rainbow Bridge
| Double or Nothing!

Traps: 12
||| Infinite Impermanence
||| Ultimate Crystal Magic
||| Trap Trick
||| Crystal Conclave

Extra:
|| Rainbow Overdragon
| Rainbow Neos
| PSY-Framelord Omega
| Number 39: Utopia
| Daigusto Emeral
| Abyss Dweller
| Number 39: Utopia Double
| Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax
| Accesscode Talker
| Knightmare Unicorn
| Knightmare Phoenix
| Knightmare Cerberus
| I:P Masquerena
| Predaplant Verte Anaconda

Note: This is continuing the style of Creative Deck Profile articles, designed to showcase a build through replays rather than through a long article. If you wish to see a CDP for an archetype, theme, or strategy you love, feel free to private message me on the YGOrg Discord server, the comments section of any of my YouTube videos, or just post a comment in response to this article on our Facebook page with your ideas to keep under consideration!
