Atem’s edit note: as writ, they aren’t quite identical to most “equip a monster to another monster” effects. Most of those, in JP, are writ to just treat one thing as an Equip Card, and if you do, equip the newly-treated Equip Card to something. These, however, make you choose a mon first – which means I expect that if you fail to choose a mon, you don’t treat anything as an Equip Card, which means you may be able to find ways to save the target from leaving the field.
