Because of something called wasei-eigo – Japanese pseudo-Anglicisms. It’s name is a play on\u00a0\u30a2\u30f3\u30b0\u30e9, a Japanese abbreviation for\u00a0\u30a2\u30f3\u30c0\u30fc\u30b0\u30e9\u30f3\u30c9 (Underground).<\/p>\n
If you’re looking for a less unwieldy name, consider using Geargiauger, but it’s most definitely not intended to be like an angler fish!<\/p>\n
