This week, we\u2019ve been monitoring the market a bit with a few others, and we\u2019ve noticed many oddities that have been happening. With the rise of the <\/span>Dark Magician of Destruction<\/b> engine, which allows players to gain access to an Omni-Negate via <\/span>Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon<\/b>, this has allowed Decks like <\/span>Yummy<\/b> to take hold of the cards and use them for devious plays. So let\u2019s dive into the changes this week and see what players have been paying\/giving attention to once again!<\/span><\/p>\n

New Techs Advancing The Formats<\/b><\/h1>\n

With the addition of the Dark Magician of Destruction<\/strong> engine to the game, this has caused <\/span>Berry Magician Girl<\/b><\/a> to almost sell out in the North American market due to the fact that its Normal Summon effect can let you search for any <\/span>Magician Girl<\/b> monster. This grants you another starter for you to access a copy of <\/span>Dark Magician Girl the Magician\u2019s Apprentice<\/b>, which is a Level 6 DARK Spellcaster that lets you Special Summon the <\/span>Dark Magician of Destruction<\/b> from the Extra Deck, and after that, that <\/span>Dark Magician of Destruction<\/b> can be used as Link Material for <\/span>Gravity Controller<\/b>. I think you all can see where this is going, as you can use<\/span> Gravity Controller<\/b>, a Link-1, and <\/span>Berry Magician Girl,<\/b> a Level 1, to Synchro Summon <\/span>Cupsy\u2605Yummy Way<\/b>, which can bridge you into your <\/span>Yummy<\/b> Combos, letting you search for 2 <\/span>Yummy<\/b> monsters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Along with <\/span>Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon<\/b>, some players have opted to run a copy of <\/span>Master of Chaos<\/b><\/a> from <\/span>Battle of Chaos<\/span><\/i> instead. After using <\/span>The Gaze of Timaeus<\/b>, when <\/span>Master<\/b> is Fusion Summoned, it can target and Special Summon 1 LIGHT or DARK monster in your GY. With these two cards, you can Xyz Summon if they share the same Level, Synchro Summon if a Tuner is available, or even Link Summon. You can also Tribute 1 LIGHT and DARK monster to banish all monsters your opponent controls, and this card can even target and return a Spell from your GY, like <\/span>The Gaze of Timaeus<\/b>, to your hand for additional recursions. Overall, this card is well-rounded for extensions, board-breaking capabilities, and even recursion. In the OCG, they have been pairing this more with the <\/span>Yummy<\/b> Synchro monsters to Synchro Summon into <\/span>Chaos Angel<\/b> with a LIGHT and DARK monster or <\/span>Baronne de Fleur<\/b>, which is currently Forbidden in the TCG, as another Omni-Negate against the opponent or another Level 10 Synchro in the case of the TCG.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next card has seen play in both <\/span>Dracotail <\/b>and <\/span>Radiant Typhoon <\/b>Decks as a way to stop the opponent from attacking and activating monster effects. <\/span>Performapal Five-Rainbow Magician<\/b><\/a> mainly has been seeing use in <\/span>Radiant Typhoon<\/b> as a counter to <\/span>Dracotail <\/b>since one of the main parts of the Deck is setting their Traps for interruption while also setting their Spells for follow-ups on the next turn through their monster effects. This can be paired extremely well with destruction through <\/span>Mystical Space Typhoon <\/b>itself or the <\/span>Giant Trunade<\/b>-like effect from <\/span>Shiina, Twin Tempests of Celestial Thunder<\/b>. Being a LIGHT Spellcaster has its bonuses as well, especially with <\/span>Branded Fusion<\/b>, as you can send it and a copy of <\/span>Fallen of Albaz<\/b> or <\/span>Fallen of the White Dragon<\/b> to the GY from your Deck to Fusion Summon either <\/span>Albion the Branded Dragon<\/b> or <\/span>Albion the Sanctifier Dragon<\/b> to further your plays or your End Board.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most of these cards haven\u2019t seen a recent reprint, but maybe soon we could see them appear in a future set, and maybe for <\/span>Berry Magician Girl<\/b>, they could print her as a new <\/span>Lost Art Promotion <\/span><\/i>card to tie into the <\/span>Limit Over Collection<\/span><\/i> cards when the TCG imports them in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Upcoming Cards To Watch For The Future<\/b><\/h1>\n

With new <\/span>Sacred Beast <\/b>support being announced for <\/span>Chaos Origins<\/span><\/i>, the corner players have been picking up copies of <\/span>Opening of the Spirit Gates<\/b>, as that card lets them discard 1 card to Special Summon 1 Fiend monster from their GY with 0 ATK\/DEF, which is great for recurring copies of <\/span>Martyr of the Sacred Beasts <\/b>(YGOrganization Translation) from their GY to the field, and <\/span>Opening<\/b> lets them search for <\/span>Dark Beckoning Beast <\/b>as an additional Normal Summon for <\/span>Martyr<\/b> as well. The card not many have their eyes on, though, is <\/span>Dimension Fusion Destruction<\/a>,<\/b> as you can banish from your hand, field, and\/or GY the Fusion Materials listed on a <\/span>Phantasm <\/b>Fusion Monster to Special Summon it from the Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning condition. The bonus is that you take no battle damage from attacks with the Special Summoned monster, but that won\u2019t matter much if you Special Summon <\/span>Phantasmal Sacred Beasts of Chaos <\/b>(YGOrganization Translation).<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Along with <\/span>Dimension Fusion Destruction<\/b>, the new <\/span>Sacred Beast <\/b>cards consist of multiple Level 10 monsters, and it allows for an easy way to Xyz Summon <\/span>Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times<\/a>,<\/b> as the 5th summon during your combo. This card allows you to detach 1 material to negate the activation of a card or effect that your opponent activates, and by detaching 1 more material, you can then destroy 1 card on the field. If this card attacks, you can destroy 1 card on the field, and if this Xyz Summoned card is destroyed, you can, again, destroy another card. Being a massive inclusion into the <\/span>Sacred Beast<\/b> Deck now, post <\/span>Chaos Origins<\/span><\/i>, it\u2019ll have long-lasting implications in the future depending on what other support they have planned for this new wave of <\/span>Sacred Beast <\/b>cards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elfnotes <\/b>has been looking to be a major contender in the <\/span>Blazing Dominion<\/span><\/i> format, judging from the data seen through <\/span>RoadoftheKing<\/b>, <\/span>Frontier Card Gaming<\/b>, and other sites that collect lists from all over the OCG. This has caused the quantities of <\/span>Elfnote Lucina<\/b><\/a> to slowly disappear off the market, as she is one of the main cards you want to run 3 of, next to the new <\/span>Elfnote Regina <\/b>(YGOrganization Translation)<\/span><\/i> from <\/span>Blazing Dominion<\/span><\/i>. <\/span>Lucina<\/b> is important to the <\/span>Elfnote<\/b> Deck as she adds any <\/span>Elfnote <\/b>monster from your Deck to your hand, and if she isn\u2019t in the center Main Monster Zone, you can switch this card\u2019s location to that Zone, then return 1 Level 6 or lower monster your opponent controls to the hand. As such, <\/span>Lucina<\/b> is very versatile for interruption, along with being able to set up your other <\/span>Elfnote<\/b> monsters for their effects for further interruptions or advantage. The Deck itself will play better with the additional support through <\/span>Regina <\/b>and the new <\/span>Power Patron<\/b> Pendulum Monsters to give the Deck even more additional consistency.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kewl Tune <\/b>has also been one of the top Decks from the OCG because of <\/span>Blazing Dominion<\/span><\/i> as well, and this has caused <\/span>Kewl Tune Synchro<\/b><\/a> to creep up in price from what it was a month ago. This card can add any <\/span>Kewl Tune<\/b> card from your Deck to your hand, and then you can immediately Synchro Summon 1 Tuner Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck, but you can only Special Summon Tuner monsters for the rest of the turn, which is fine as <\/span>Kewl Tune<\/b> is filled to the brim with Tuners. Being a Quick-Play Spell is great, as it can be used on the opponent\u2019s turn, not once, but twice. This makes it a huge guessing game for the opponent as to what you\u2019re going to Summon to interrupt their plays during their turn. This card is a solid Main Deck card that is a worthy 3-of and will get even better with the new <\/span>Kewl Tune Rotary <\/b>(YGOrganization Translation)<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Kewl Tune B2B <\/b>(YGOrganization Translation)<\/span><\/i> this May.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is so much to look forward to this year for Yu-Gi-Oh! And it definitely shows that card design is starting to shift for older Decks to become powerful and newer themes to stay on a course where anything can potentially be groundbreaking.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
