With the full set list of Maze of Muertos<\/em> being revealed through the official data yesterday morning, we will be looking at the major cards reprinted in this set and cards that missed out on a reprint. Overall, the imports and reprints are amazing in this set for multiple strategies, and hopefully this trend continues in the future.<\/p>\n

Reprints that are coming soon in Maze of Muertos!<\/h1>\n

There are plenty of reprints among the Muertos, and they range from highly needed ones for the modern format to cards that are great to have for Genesys, and the first card happens to be Albion the Sanctifire Dragon<\/strong><\/a>. This Fusion Monster has been asked constantly by the players for a reprint because its price tag on the North American market skyrocketed to $50 a copy due to having only 2 prints from Cyberstorm Access<\/em> and the 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Mirrors<\/em>, and a new wave of support for Branded<\/strong> that is included in Dracotail <\/strong>Decks currently. Albion<\/strong> lets you quickly target 2 monsters in any GYs and Special Summon both monsters, 1 to each field. This is a great way to recur lockout cards like Archlord Kristya <\/strong>to prevent Special Summoning, Dracotail Lukias<\/strong> to search for a Dracotail<\/strong> monster, or Fallen of Albaz<\/strong> to use a monster from your opponent\u2019s board as Fusion Material, and this can even be the monster you just gave to your opponent. The greatest part about Albion<\/strong> is that it cannot be used as Fusion Material, so Super Polymerization <\/strong>or even Fallen of Albaz<\/strong> itself doesn\u2019t work against it, along with Albion<\/strong> not being able to be targeted with card effects.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With new Magnet Warrior<\/strong> support in Burst Protocol<\/em>, many of the older cards from Structure Deck: Yugi Muto<\/em>, which have one print, were hit up from Gamma<\/strong> and Alpha the Electromagnet Warrior<\/strong>,<\/a> but the best one is Beta the Electromagnet Warrior<\/strong>, which happens to be around $25 a copy. This is because when it is Normal or Special Summoned, Beta<\/strong> can search for a Level 4 or lower Magnet Warrior<\/strong> monster, which is great with the new support for plenty of their combos, and during the opponent\u2019s turn, you can quickly Tribute Beta<\/strong> to Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Magnet Warrior<\/strong> from your Deck, but most of the time, you will use it to Synchro Summon Naturia Beast<\/strong> with Adamancipator Researcher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After almost 6 long years, Condemned Darklord<\/a> <\/strong>has received a Super Rare reprint from its original Ultra Rare print from Duel Overload.<\/em> This card has become one of the most prominent Link Monsters in Fairy Decks over the years, and for the new Darklord <\/strong>support, it is extremely needed for many purposes. Condemned<\/strong> lets you Tribute Summon Fairy monsters that require 2 Tributes by banishing 2 monsters from your GY instead, which has plenty of potential with Archlord Kristya <\/strong>or Darklord Morningstar<\/strong>. Other things Condemned<\/strong> can do are that you can discard 1 card to either add to your hand or send from your Deck to the GY, 1 Darklord<\/strong> monster from your Deck, and during your End Phase, you gain 500 LP for each Fairy monster on the field, which can add up quickly if you have more Fairies than itself. I am grateful that this card finally received a reprint, as it was nearing up to $30 a copy due to the hype of Gem-Knight Darklord <\/strong>and other Darklord<\/strong>-related Decks.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For the Genesys players, Solemn Scolding<\/strong><\/a> has a new rarity that isn\u2019t Secret Rare, being now Ultra Rare instead. Previously, we talked about this card as it was unpointed for a bit at the start, and it’s a big power push to try and stop the opponent from breaking your board fully. While Scolding<\/strong> is the only Set card in your Spell\/Trap Zones, by paying 3000 LP, you can negate the Summon of a monster(s) or the activation of a Spell\/Trap Card or monster effect, and if you do, destroy that card. Scolding<\/strong> being a powerful push for decks that have multiple other pieces of interruptions in addition to this could stop nearly everything if timed or used correctly. It\u2019s great that this card finally received another reprint to make it accessible to the players, especially after almost 11 years.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It\u2019s great seeing many cards in this set finally getting their first reprint for accessibility for the players, so hopefully in the future, we see more of this for cards that are older than 2014 to be in here.<\/p>\n

Missed Reprint Opportunities<\/h1>\n

For the cards that still would be great to see reprints for, I think this one definitely deserves the spotlight, that being Lunalight Black Sheep<\/strong><\/a>, from Shining Victories<\/em>. This card is an important card for Lunalight, <\/strong>as it can add either a Polymerization<\/strong> from your Deck to your hand or a Lunalight <\/strong>monster from your GY to your hand, which can help trigger Lunalight Gold Leo<\/strong>. If a Lunalight monster is sent to your GY while Leo<\/strong> is in the Monster Zone, you can target 1 of them and add it back to your hand, which lets you recycle that Black Sheep<\/strong>. Another use for Black Sheep<\/strong> is if it is sent to the GY for a Fusion Summon, you can add 1 face-up Lunalight <\/strong>Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck, or a Lunalight <\/strong>monster from your GY, to your hand, which is extremely useful for recoverability and the potential to set up more resources for your combo, or for a follow-up on your next turn. Hopefully, this card sees a new reprint this year; as soon as it does, it\u2019ll be moving onto 10 years without a print for a vital piece of the Lunalight<\/strong> Deck.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve seen plenty of talk about Darklord Ixchel<\/strong><\/a>, and it was missed on a new reprint as the last time we saw this card printed was a Gold Rare in Gold Series: Maximum Gold<\/em> from 2020. Ixchel<\/strong> has always been a card that Darklords<\/strong> ran because of its draw effect, which goes off by discarding Ixchel<\/strong> itself and another Darklord <\/strong>card. This lets you dig into the Deck for Banishment of the Darklords<\/strong>, Darklord Contact<\/strong>, or even put your Darklord<\/strong> Trap Cards in the GY so you can pay 1000 LP to shuffle and copy their effects via the main Destiny Soldiers<\/em> monsters. But with the new Burst Protocol<\/em> support, who knows how many copies the Deck will run in the future, as I\u2019ve seen anywhere from 1 to 2 copies at least, while some exclude the card to have other cards fill the gap of not running it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Surprisingly, Duoterion<\/strong><\/a>, a card massively hyped from the OCG Burst Protocol<\/em> Stream for the new Magnet Warrior <\/strong>support, missed out on a reprint, which is extremely odd. This card can be discarded from your hand to add 1 Bonding<\/strong> Spell\/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. This is extremely useful, as Magnet Bonding<\/strong> can either add a Conduction Warrior Linear Magnum Plus Minus<\/strong> or a Level 4 or lower Magnet Warrior <\/strong>monster from your Deck to your hand, a Level 8 Magnet Warrior <\/strong>from your Deck to your hand, or Fusion Summon 1 Rock Fusion monster by shuffling Rock monsters from your hand, field, GY, and\/or banishment into the Deck. This last part is useful for Summoning either Conduction Warrior Plasma Magnum<\/strong> or the new World Premiere card Flux Ochsenfeld<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, because of the new Mikanko<\/strong> support arriving to the TCG, Mikanko Water Arabesque<\/strong><\/a> has been going up in price, while quantities are going down, as players pick up cards needed for the deck. While you have this Equip Spell face-up on your field, you can Special Summon 1 Mikanko<\/strong> monster from your hand or Deck with a different original name than the equipped monster. This is useful, as if you\u2019re using a going-second build, whatever you equip it to won\u2019t share a name with a Mikanko<\/strong> monster. Then this card equips to the monster you Summoned from the Deck and returns the other monster that was equipped with this card to the hand. Being one of the best Equip Spells for Mikanko<\/strong>, I can see this card going up more in price than it already has, and it\u2019ll be interesting to see where this card will be reprinted in the future.<\/p>\n

Overall, Maze of Muertos<\/em> has plenty of hit reprints in the set itself, but a few cards remain lacking a reprint for quite some time, and the next reprint wave won\u2019t be until May\u2019s Rarity Collection V<\/em>, which will have plenty more places for some of these missed cards over the past few months.<\/p>\n

This weekend will be the massive 300th YCS in Richmond, Virginia; Guadalajara, Mexico; and Dortmund, Germany. To everyone who will be attending the event for the Advanced and Genesys Format, we wish you all the best of luck. For my prediction of what Deck will win? It\u2019ll either be Branded Dracotail<\/strong>, using the new Burst Protocol <\/em>cards for Albaz<\/strong>, or maybe we will see Radiant Typhoon<\/strong> sneak out a win for this major event as another top contender currently. We could be surprised to see rogue strategies too to win, like maybe Lunalight <\/strong>as a meta call in the new format.<\/p>\n
