The Ashened theme consists of DARK Pyro monsters that ultimately revolve around <strong>Obsidim, the Ashened City<\/strong>. This Field Spell turns Special Summoned monsters the opponent controls into Pyro during your turn, offering them up for <strong>Super Polymerization<\/strong>, or the in-theme version, <strong>Ashened to Endlessness<\/strong>. The goal is to first get Obsidim on either field, then Special Summon your Ashened monsters from hand with their inherent summoning conditions. <strong>Priestess of the Ashened City<\/strong> helps this gameplan along, as does <strong>King of the Ashened City<\/strong>, as each lets you dig further into your deck and extend further onto your board, converting cards to advantage. You also have two great Spell Cards for that &#8211; <strong>Awakening of Veidos<\/strong>, to place Obsidim on the field and tutor a Level 5 or higher DARK Pyro, or <strong>Extinguishing the Ashened<\/strong>, which effectively tutors any Level 5 or higher DARK Pyro. Plus, they are Pyro after all, so <strong>Infernal Flame Banshee<\/strong> and <strong>Bonfire<\/strong> can do some heavy lifting in the consistency department.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the magic of this archetype is how it can play with so many unique cards and engines. I love its interaction with <strong>Chicken Game<\/strong>, as this build can potentially use its effect multiple times in the same turn, looping it back onto the field with things like <strong>Multi-Universe<\/strong> or <strong>Embers of the Ashened<\/strong>. This theme also works well with <strong>Cosmo Queen the Queen of Prayers<\/strong>, destroying a Field Spell you control to tutor any other, gaining advantage in the process if you destroyed Obisdim. What I like to tutor is <strong>Nightmare Throne<\/strong>, as that gets you both a free Link Material and a <strong>Phantom of Yubel<\/strong> if it happens to destroy <strong>Spirit of Yubel<\/strong> in your deck.
